UMC Seminary Caravan

UMC Seminary Caravan Admissions officers from the 13 seminaries of the United Methodist Church travel across the country as a means of connecting with prospective students.

What is the UMC Seminary Caravan? Founded in 2014, the UMC Seminary Caravan takes admissions representatives from each of the 13 graduate theological schools of the United Methodist Church on the road. We travel together to a region of the country, connecting with prospective students in the area through events at local colleges and universities. We often partner with Annual Conference offices or other institutional bodies to spread the word that we're on our way. Who attends UMC Seminary Caravan events? Anyone considering seminary study is welcome to attend UMC Seminary Caravan events. We will post our upcoming schedules to this page and on our website (http://explorecalling.org/events/seminary-caravan). If you would like to attend one of our events, even if you are not affiliated with the United Methodist Church you are most welcome, since all 13 seminaries welcome students of any denominational background. All events are free. What is the benefit of attending a Seminary Caravan event? It would cost over $4,000 for a prospective student to travel individually to each of the 13 UMC seminaries across the United States. Rather than doing this you can attend a UMC Seminary Caravan event and meet representatives from the schools closer to your home! This is a wonderful opportunity to ask questions about what seminary life is like at schools near and far, learn what programs they have to offer, and figure out the differences and similarities between them. In other words, it helps narrow down which of the seminaries is a good fit for your future theological study. How can my institution host a UMC Seminary Caravan event? If you represent a college, university, Wesley Foundation, Annual Conference, local church, other religious gathering, and you would like the UMC Seminary Caravan to roll into your town, we'd love to! We come to you free of charge, and each seminary pays the cost of its own travel. All we ask is that each of our hosts can confidently gather at least 25 prospective students (or more!) for their event and can provide a meal or reception at which those who attend can mingle with the seminary representatives. If you are interested in learning more, post to this page's wall, and one of the seminary representatives will follow up with you!

The UMC Caravan pulled in and made a stop at Disney in Orlando for the UMC Exploration 2015 event. Approximately 500 people travelled from every part of the country to discover and pray about the call God has placed on their lives. Exploration 2015 is an amazing gathering filled with worship, songs, small groups, workshops and fantastic fun. To God be the glory! All 13 UMC seminaries were well represented. Next stop Oklahoma City.
