Ozark Literacy Council offers free literacy programs and resources in Northwest Arkansas in order to build a welcoming, inclusive and empowered community.

OLC has been providing free literacy and language services in Washington County for more than 50 years. Since 2018, we have served over 600 students from more than 50 countries. See our website for information about classes, tutoring and volunteering.

Conversation clubs are opportunities in which students and volunteers gather to talk about shared interests or participate in a hobby.

Past clubs have included topics for: knitting, painting, games, writing, culture, geography, dancing, and more!

Interested in volunteering at OLC? Come to our next volunteer orientation on Tuesday, October 20th from 5:30-7 PM.

We'll share all about our volunteer programs and how you can get involved! From tutoring, special teams, and conversation clubs, we have something that may fit your interest.

As a tutor, you will walk alongside an adult English learner through their journey of learning English. Tutoring opportunities include in building Adult Basic Education (ABE) and English as a Second Language (ESL) tutoring, remote ESL tutoring at a partner location or In-Home tutoring. In-Home Tutoring is a program implemented for our newest refugee neighbors who may face barriers to attending our in person classes.

Special Teams are volunteer groups who help us with events, gardening, field trips, facilities, and office support. These opportunities are great for volunteers who may want to volunteer on a lower commitment occasional basis.

Conversations Clubs are where volunteers and students can gather for casual conversation around common interests and shared hobbies. As a leader you get to pick a topic/hobby of interest around a meeting schedule that works for you.

We want to thank everyone who came to see us at the International Festival this past weekend! We had the opportunity to share information about our organization with other people who are also passionate about literacy and building community.

We got to share some of our merchandise, raise a little money for the organization and most importantly, meet so many of the people and cultures that make our community what it is!

We're very grateful for the opportunity to participate and will be looking forward to seeing you all next year!

Join us this weekend on Saturday, October 3rd from 1:00 PM to 5:00 PM to join the community in the annual International Festival hosted by and at the Botanical Garden of the Ozarks ! You will not only get to meet a multitude of people from the multicultural communities and organizations in Northwest Arkansas, but you will also get to have the opportunity to learn about them. You will see foods, arts, dances, traditions and most importantly, experience of the diversity that makes Arkansas home to many cultures!

OLC will have a booth to share information on how you can get participate in programs at our organization!

Student Services and Office Coordinator:
The Student Services and Office Coordinator provides evening front desk coverage and supports OLC's Student Services & Data Department. This position assists students with enrollment and testing, supports student data and recordkeeping, and helps maintain a welcoming, clean, and organized office and learning environment.

This is an on-site part time position and works under the direction of the Student Services & Data Manager.
