What a tournament.

Among all the other things, maybe this one got lost? ;)

Yes, BDSO organised the first ever official Bangladeshi Poker tournament and boy oh boy was it a hit! After hours of nail bitting hands, Rafique Un Nabi Roni came out the triumphant of the tournament. All the 9 participants of the final table were honoured.

And with this the BDSO Badminton Bonanza comes to and end. From group stage dominance to semi playoffs, to nail bitting finals, it had it all.

Congratulations to our very own, Dr. Reeshad Khan Shuvro on defending his doctoral dissertation. BDSO is extremely proud of the achievement, and wishes him a very good luck on his future endeavours!

Spotlight Watch - Tasnimul Ferdous

Congratulations to our very own, Tasnimul Ferdous, a PhD student in Environmental Engineering working on cell culture and microbiology, for her first publication in Nature. Her paper is titled -

"Cytotoxicity and genotoxicity of glyphosate and Roundup QuickPro on Chinese hamster o***y cells."

This study compares the cellular and DNA-damaging effects of glyphosate versus the commercial formulation Roundup QuickPro using CHO cells. Their findings highlight that the commercial formulation shows significantly higher toxicity than glyphosate alone — emphasizing the important role of formulants in real-world herbicide exposure.

The FPL ends with a thrilling nail bitting final! Losing the toss and after scoring just 47 of the first 7 overs, with Shantonu and Sougata's brilliance, Avijan XI posts a giant target of 133.

Nihad's Ninjas losing their main man Sanim at the first ball during the chase, later was carried by Ashad Rakib's individual brilliance to almost bring the match home just to fall short by 10 runs in the final over due to the amazing captaincy of the veteran Rafique Un Nabi Rony. A truly nail-bitting finish to an exciting game, as well as to the tournament. Audiences claimed to watch a cinema without even buying a ticket!

Avijan XI beats Nihad's Ninjas by 10 runs in the Final of FPL 2025, and are crowned Champions!
