Fayetteville State University is a historically black university founded in 1867 as the Howard School by seven black men for the purpose of educating black children. The student body, faculty, and staff today rank among the nation's most diverse campus communities. With program expansion, the university has strong undergraduate and graduate programs in teacher education, the arts and sciences, health professions, business and economics, and is developing programs in unique and emerging fields. Fayetteville State University welcomes Dr. Scott Krawczyk as the new Provost and Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs.
Dr. Krawczyk is a respected scholar and retired general, who joins the university after serving as a senior academic executive at the University of the District of Columbia.
In his role, Krawczyk will work collaboratively with faculty, staff, and administrators to support academic innovation and continuous improvement initiatives aligned with the university’s mission and long-term priorities.
The scope of his leadership encompasses the university’s four academic colleges, sponsored research, library services, and institutional effectiveness, research, and planning units. He will also oversee policies and practices that promote academic integrity within an evolving higher education landscape.
This Memorial Day we honor the brave men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice in service to our country.
Their courage, their sacrifice, and their unwavering devotion to protecting our freedoms will never be forgotten.
