Graduate students from the Department of Industrial Engineering at the University of Arkansas, recently had the incredible opportunity to participate in a High-Performance Computing (HPC) training workshop hosted by The Arkansas High Performance Computing Center (AHPCC).

A big THANK YOU to all the students who participated and made this workshop a success! Your enthusiasm and eagerness to learn about HPC systems truly made this experience amazing.

We also extend our heartfelt gratitude to AHPCC for providing such a world-class HPC facility and for conducting this insightful training. A special thank you to our expert trainers, Dr. Recep Erol and Pawel Wolinski, for their invaluable guidance and hands-on sessions. Your expertise has equipped us with essential HPC skills that will surely benefit our research and academic pursuits.

This workshop was proudly arranged by the INFORMS UARK Student Chapter, and we look forward to bringing more such learning opportunities to our community!

A huge thanks to everyone who attended the seminar on Analytics and Decision Support in Community-based Public Sector Service Operations!

We were honored to welcome Dr. Nan Kong from Purdue University, who shared groundbreaking insights on innovative approaches to tackling key challenges in public sector services, from using UAVs for emergency medical support to reducing recidivism with community corrections programs.

Professor at the Weldon School of Biomedical Engineering and the Edwardson School of Industrial Engineering, Purdue University

In this session, Dr. Kong will share his expertise on addressing challenges faced by public sector service organizations, highlighting two impactful projects:
1️⃣ Deployment of uncrewed aerial vehicles for emergency
medical services
2️⃣ Community corrections programs to reduce jail
overcrowding and recidivism
