Welcome Ms. Phyllis Williams is beginning her fifth year of teaching at the elementary school level. She is a graduate of the University of North Carolina at Charlotte and proudly served as a member of the United States Army. Her favorite color is green. Ms. Williams is passionate about helping her students learn and grow, and she is excited to begin another wonderful school year with her class.

Please join us in welcoming Demetria Kirkman, a proud graduate of Fayetteville State University—Bronco Pride! She brings over sixteen years of experience in education, having served students from kindergarten through fifth grade, as well as in music and STEM. Outside of work, she enjoys painting, taking naps, traveling, playing the piano, shooting pool, spending time with family and friends, and relaxing in the comfort of her home. Ms. Kirkman is excited to begin this new journey at LAES and looks forward to creating a new tune in Bear Country!

Ms. Tashonda McCormick is excited to join the Loyd Auman Elementary School family. She is beginning her seventh year as a Special Education teacher and is passionate about helping her students learn, grow, and reach their full potential. Outside of the classroom, she enjoys spending quality time with her family, creating YouTube videos, and traveling.

Mrs. Rosemarie Magno, is coming all the way from the Philippines. She’s excited to bring her passion for teaching, respect for family, and her love for learning to our community. She can’t wait to meet everyone in person and get to know each of us. She will serve as the new AU K-2 Teacher.

Our students proudly published their very own book:

🐦 STEM Bird Investigation: Exploring Birds Around Our School 🐦

Through hands-on STEM investigations, outdoor observations, student discussions, YouTube research, drawing, and writing activities, students explored the birds around our school and turned their discoveries into authentic published work. 📖🔍✨

Using sentence starters, guided instruction, and their own creative ideas, students strengthened early literacy, research, creativity, critical thinking, and communication skills through a meaningful real-world learning experience.

We are so proud of our Kindergarten authors for their hard work, curiosity, and growth throughout this special project. Thank you to our families for your continued support and encouragement every step of the way. 🍎✨
