Cumberland County Schools Announces Schedule Adjustments Due to Hurricane Helene and Boil Water Advisory
CCS Shifts to Remote Learning on Friday, September 27
Out of an abundance of caution due to the possibility of inclement weather caused by Hurricane Helene and a boil water advisory issued by PWC affecting most schools, Cumberland County Schools (CCS) will implement the following schedule adjustments to prioritize the safety of our students, employees and families. The boil water advisory impacts drinking water and food preparation at schools across the district.
Asynchronous Remote Learning Day - Friday, September 27: All CCS schools will operate on an asynchronous remote learning schedule on Friday, September 27. During this time, students will work independently on assignments provided by their teachers. Elementary and middle school students will have five days to complete and submit their assignments, while high school students will have three days. Students enrolled in classes at Fayetteville State University, Fayetteville Technical Community College and College Connections should contact their instructors for specific guidance regarding class schedules.
After-School Activities/Athletics: All after-school activities, including athletic practices and events scheduled for Friday, September 27, are canceled.
Prime Time Schedule: The Prime Time After-School program will be closed on Friday, September 27.
District/School Offices: District offices and school buildings will be closed on Friday, September 27, and employees will work remotely. Employees with questions should contact their direct supervisor.
