As we wrap up a successful first week of the 2026–2027 school year, we want to extend a warm welcome back to all of our students, families, faculty, and staff! 🎉📚

Before the school year began, our School Nutrition Department proudly hosted its annual General Session Training for our School Nutrition Managers. During this important training, managers received updates on the latest USDA, State, and Fayette County policies and procedures, ensuring our cafeterias are prepared to serve safe, nutritious, and high-quality meals throughout the school year.

We also took time to celebrate the outstanding accomplishments of our School Nutrition Managers from the 2025–2026 school year. Managers were recognized and presented with awards honoring their dedication, hard work, and commitment to excellence in serving our students every day. Congratulations to all of our award recipients on your well-deserved recognition!

Thank you to our dedicated School Nutrition team for your passion, professionalism, and commitment to supporting student success. We look forward to another incredible year of nourishing minds, fueling learning, and making a positive difference—one meal at a time.

🎉 That’s a wrap on another successful school year in School Nutrition! 🎉

What an amazing year it has been serving our students and creating memories along the way. From special menu days and new recipes to teamwork, smiles, and fun moments in our cafeterias, this year was one to remember! ❤️🍎

We put together a special video highlighting some of the memories we made throughout the 2025–2026 school year. We are so proud of the amazing work our school nutrition team continues to do to bring fun, nutritious, and exciting meals to Fayette County students. A special thank you to Emily Morris and the Peeples Elementary cafeteria staff for showcasing this incredible menu item!

We have some exciting news—our program has been nominated for GaDOE’s Tray of the Week competition! 🎉 They are featuring the delicious ramen bowl we recently added to the menu, and we couldn’t be more proud.

A special shoutout to Emily and her amazing team at Peeples Elementary for the beautiful photo that was submitted—great job representing us! 👏 Please take a moment to vote and share with your schools, family, and friends to help us spread the word and gain support!

Last Friday 5/1/26 we celebrated our incredible Fayette County School Nutrition staff for National School Lunch Hero Day! 🦸‍♀️🦸‍♂️

Every day, these dedicated heroes go above and beyond to serve nutritious meals with a smile, fueling our students for success both in and out of the classroom. From early mornings to busy lunch lines, their hard work, care, and commitment do not go unnoticed.

We also want to extend a heartfelt thank you to our school administrators for taking the time to recognize and honor your School Nutrition teams. Your support helps make this day even more special and meaningful.

🎉 Congratulations to Bennett’s Mill Middle School Manager, David Hudson! 🎉

We are proud to celebrate David for being featured by the Georgia School Nutrition Program as a School Nutrition Hero in honor of National School Lunch Heroes Week!

David’s dedication, passion, and commitment to serving students make a lasting impact every single day. We are so grateful for all the wonderful things he brings to our program and the positive difference he makes in the lives of our students.

Friday is School Nutrition Hero Day, but we are celebrating Georgia school nutrition heroes all week long! Today's featured hero is Bennett's Mill Middle School Nutrition Manager David Hudson.

"Mr. Hudson exemplifies excellence in every facet of school nutrition, from meal quality and menu innovation to leadership development and community engagement. He is a leader, a mentor, a culinary artist, and a community pillar who transforms every meal into an experience.

David brings more than 20 years of school nutrition experience, including eight years as a school nutrition manager. David also works as a training manager. In this role he assists and trains school nutrition managers. David has also won the Cafeteria of Excellence Award twice and the Fayette County Cheryl Calhoun, Manager of the Year Award. He is also the face of one of our district's Employee Branded Videos, a reflection of his exemplary service and the deep respect he commands.

David serves a school with a high percentage of students qualifying for free and reduced-price meals. He understands the significance of every plate served and approaches each day with that awareness in mind. He and his team prepare every dish with purpose, love, and care. His dedication has resulted in one of the highest student participation rates in the entire district, currently second only to one other school.

His work has garnered praise from district officials who consistently comment on the quality, taste, and presentation of meals at Bennett's Mill. That level of consistency doesn't happen by accident, it is the result of a passionate leader who treats school nutrition as both a calling and a craft. Our district is very fortunate to have Mr. Hudson as a member of our school nutrition program." said Fayette County School Nutrition Director Kokeeta Wilder.

🌱 Fayette County students celebrated Earth Day on Wednesday, 4/22, with a fun and tasty treat! Students enjoyed yummy “dirt cups with worms” while learning the importance of caring for our planet. To help support a greener future, meals were also served on biodegradable trays. Small changes can make a big difference! 💚♻️
