Mrs. Ketty Lazaro-Flores visited Mrs. Rimmer’s Geography class alongside her son, Michael, while students were studying South America. Originally from Peru, the family shared meaningful insights about their home country, including its geography, climate, traditional foods, government, economy, and education system. Students enjoyed learning firsthand about Peruvian culture and daily life through this engaging and authentic presentation. Holt Huskies love partnering with families to enrich learning in the classroom!

Congratulations to Mr. Hart, Holt Middle School Teacher of the Year! Barry Hart is the definition of a pioneer, having been a cornerstone of our school community since the day our doors first opened. As the last remaining original Holt certified staff member, Barry’s 26-year tenure is marked by an unwavering commitment to excellence and a "detail-oriented" approach that elevates everything he touches. He single-handedly transformed our district’s arts curriculum by introducing theater classes to the middle school level, and in 2001, he launched our very first musical—a tradition he has championed annually without fail for over two decades. Beyond the stage, Barry is our building’s unofficial "tech hero," always ready to lend his expertise to colleagues in need. We are honored to recognize a man who didn't just join a school; he helped build its heart and soul.

Students explored trails and learned about environmental impacts to plants, trees, and wildlife. Lastly, students panned for native gemstones. They had a perfect day in nature!

Holt 5th grade students recently participated in field experiences at Fayetteville and Boston Mountain recycling centers. During the visits, students learned about the importance of recycling and how everyday items like paper, plastic, and metal are sorted and processed. They were able to see first hand how materials move through the recycling system and are transformed into new products. This engaging and eye-opening field experience helped students make connections with their Human impact unit in Science.
