The babies are now 3 weeks old and mama is still extremely protective of her babies. If she isn't growling at me, she is pecking my hand making her desire for me to stay in my lane and focus on food and water, that she has her babies and I need not worry.

When I say we have new colors popping up from this hatch, I mean we have new colors! Looks like we have white partidge with this little one, although it is still too soon to tell. This one's mama is either Phoebe, Kim Kim, or Maxines due to the beard and muffs. Fingers crossed this is a pullet.

For the first time in chicken owning, I missed opening a coop door. All doors are usually opened at dawn. Kim Kim grabbed some food first and then ran to grab a drink, pushing every hen out of her way just so she could dip her feet in as well. Kim Kim is always doing something different and as one of the higher ranking girls, she does those different things when she wants and where she wants 🙄 😒 😆 🤣 Luckily, the coop has amazing shade coverage and an open window as well as I discovered the unopened door around midday, so this behavior is truly just Kim Kim being her usual bossy self and not the result of overheating.

Can't stop! Won't stop! Posting about our amazing Buffy! She has officially claimed all 27 and they have claimed her. She had all 27 babies under and directly around her last, while the brooder plate sat unused.
