The 2027 Gulf-South Summit is coming to the Atlanta area March 17–19, 2027! Hosted by GivePulse and SLIC Georgia at Agnes Scott College, this year’s summit will explore how we can build stronger connections between campuses and communities through meaningful, joyful, and sustainable engagement.

🎉 Congratulations, Dr. Anne Velliquette! 🎉

The Service Learning Initiative is excited to honor Dr. Anne Velliquette, associate teaching professor of marketing and retail program director in the Sam M. Walton College of Business, as the recipient of the 2025–26 Outstanding Contributions to Service Learning Faculty Award! 🏆

For more than a decade, Dr. Velliquette has incorporated Service Learning into her courses, partnering with more than 30 organizations, including Hershey’s, Hallmark, Chobani and Kyya Chocolate, to give students hands-on experience solving real-world business challenges. Through these experiences, students build professional connections and have even gone on to earn internships and jobs with organizations they worked with in her courses. 💼✨

Join us in celebrating Dr. Velliquette and her dedication to creating meaningful, community-based learning experiences for students!

We’re putting the word out! 📣

We’re excited to share an incredible opportunity for STEM and engineering faculty, Service Learning partners, and students. AMT (The Association for Manufacturing Technology) is hosting IMTS 2026 in Chicago this Sept. 14–19, and the Smartforce Student Summit offers free, hands‑on learning experiences in robotics, CNC machining, automation, digital twins, Industry 4.0, and advanced manufacturing careers.

Students will have access to interactive classrooms led by FANUC, Mitsubishi Electric, and other industry leaders, plus live demonstrations, simulations, and networking with more than 60 exhibitors shaping the future of manufacturing.

If students or faculty are traveling as part of a designated Service Learning project, travel funding is available.

Registration is free for students and educators, and group registration is open even without a final headcount.

Honors students, we have a special opportunity just for you! 🌟

Join the Service Learning Initiative for a Lunch & Learn on Thursday, September 3rd from 12:30–1:30PM in GEAR 258. This session is designed specifically for Honors students who want to explore how service learning can enhance their academic experience, strengthen professional skills, and create meaningful community impact.

Enjoy free pizza and drinks while learning how service learning courses can help you earn Honors credit through hands-on, community‑based projects. We’ll share upcoming course offerings, walk through how service learning connects classroom learning with real‑world challenges, and highlight ways these experiences can support your academic, personal, and career goals.
