My Fall purse! ✨️😁✨️🍂

Loved loved loved weaving this basket a couple weeks back at our annual Arkansas Basket Weavers Weaving Celebration. What a wonderful group of people! Got to work alongside my good pal Annette and had the dandiest time..
Been carrying this beauty around for the last few weeks and am grateful to Bonnie Rideout for being so patient teaching this great basket to me. (You can order up a kit if you feel inclined.)

Happy Fall!

~ Kantha Quilts ~

Just added some more goodies to the booth, including these hand stitched, 100% Cotton, lightweight quilts made from vintage saris.
They are fantastically one of a kind, reversible, vibrant, and washer safe.

You can find them stocked at my booth in Aunt Bill’s Vintage along with all my other foraged Fall finds.

Whoo hoooo! Fall is here!! 🍂✨️

~Rush Stool ~

Y'all, it made my heart very happy to make this 'lil stool right here yesterday. Last year at our Weaving Celebration, I made a woven footstool with canvas, but really wanted to learn how to weave this kind of stool. These kinds of artisan items are few and far between, and Im thrilled to be a new generation of seat weaving weavers.

Hooray for our Arkansas Basket Weavers group for bringing my teacher Steve Atkinson in to teach his craft.

I loved the process, although it got tricky towards the end. Im feeling ready to make more, though!

Even got to play a little ukulele at the end of my day for some of my fellow weavers, and that made me happy too.

Yay for learning new things! 😊

~Blue Ribbons! ~

Got me some blue ribbons at the Washington County Fair this year! Feeling very proud of myself for entering my creations. All together, I had five baskets, a woven stool, and a hawk tail broom entered. Made away like a bandit and even got $18 in the mail for my winnings! Not too shabby!! Already thinking about next year! Thanks to Katherine G for the encouragement to enter my handiwork and the photo of me picking them up to bring home. Thanks Anna Jones
for the photos of me posing with my blue ribbon babies.

This weekend is the group I belong to - Arkansas Basket Weavers - annual Weaving Celebration. I will be learning to weave a rush stool and another tote style basket. Looking forward to that! Stay tuned for some reels.

~ Broom Corn Update ~

Well... it's been a great season for the broom corn! con_fuoco_feasts and I planted 75 broom corn plants, and all but a few developed and grew into something worth keeping. So far, half has been harvested, and as the last photo shows ( from a few days ago) , it's time to harvest that too.

Stripping the stalks down to a usable size and hanging the corn to dry. Eeek!!! Can't wait to see how it can all be used in some form or fashion. Thanks for following along!

~ Broom Corn Update~

Close to harvesting these beauties. About 12 - 13 feet tall now, partially tabled and producing seeds ( view til the end). What a delight it's been to grow broom corn for the first time. Can't wait to harvest it all, dry it, and see what all we have to work with for broom making. My heart is full for this project.

The sun has been hot these last few weeks and it's been doing its best to push on through to the finish line. All 60ish plants made it up into the sky and are producing not only the broom corn that will be used for broom making, but the seeds to collect, save for next year, and make available for others.

Nori, the black cat, approved. 😁

Stay tuned for progress and the process ~
