Juneteenth is a significant holiday that commemorates the end of slavery in the United States. It marks the day, June 19, 1865, when Union soldiers arrived in Galveston, Texas, and announced the freedom of enslaved African Americans, more than two years after the Emancipation Proclamation.

Juneteenth is important to us because it reminds us of the resilience and strength of those who fought for freedom and justice. It serves as a time to celebrate African American culture, reflect on the progress made, and recommit to the ongoing struggle for equality and civil rights for all.

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of a former teacher of our GLA family.

Ms. Brandi was a great part of our team and played an intricate part in our school community as our Explorers teacher until her departure to further her pursuit in schooling.

We extend our heartfelt condolences to her entire family and children whom we had the privilege of educating and caring for.

Today, we pause to honor and remember the brave men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice for our country. 🇺🇸

At Genesis Learning Academy Childcare & Christian School, we are grateful for the freedoms we enjoy because of the courage, service, and dedication of our fallen heroes. As we spend time with family and loved ones this Memorial Day, may we also take a moment to reflect on those who gave so much for us all.

We extend our heartfelt gratitude to military families and those who continue to serve our nation.
