The AWRC is part of a network of water centers across the United States, and our mission is to facilitate research that addresses our state's water issues.
AWRC is part of a network of 54 water institutes. In cooperation with the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) and the National Institute for Water Resources (NIWR), the center has helped local, state and federal agencies manage Arkansas' water resources for more than 30 years.

What a great second day of !
We enjoyed hearing about regional wastewater strategy, onsite wastewater treatment, and source water protection, along with a full afternoon on regional stormwater management and a panel on stormwater and NWA growth.
We hope to see everyone at the conference social tonight at Marley's Pizzeria!

Day two of is in full swing! We started the morning with a look at regional wastewater strategy and an interactive discussion on the next steps for onsite wastewater treatment in Arkansas.

Arkansas relies on surface water for agriculture, drinking water, and recreation, making advance warning of drought critical. A new machine learning tool from the U.S. Geological Survey can now forecast streamflow drought conditions up to 90 days out, giving water managers, farmers, and communities more time to prepare.

What's flowing beneath the surface of Northwest Arkansas?
We are monitoring cave springs at multiple locations in the Illinois River Watershed, Elk River Watershed, and Beaver Lake Watershed.
This EPA-funded karst study will track nutrient, sediment, and pollutant levels to understand better how water moves through the region's porous geology and what that means for protecting our water supply as NWA continues to grow.
