Congratulations to the Summer 2026 graduates of our Healthcare Exploration Program! This unique partnership between FTCC, Cape Fear Valley Health, and Cumberland County Schools gives high school students the opportunity to delve into the fundamentals of various healthcare pathways through hands-on learning.

Participants can explore their interests, discover their passions, and get a jumpstart on a rewarding career serving patients in our local community.

Fayetteville Technical Community College was honored to welcome archivists, faculty, staff, and preservation enthusiasts from across the state last week for the 5th Annual NCCC Archives Association Conference.

The NCCCA Conference featured sessions, tours, and conversations on the best ways to promote archives, build community partnerships, and engage stakeholders on and off campus.

Thank you to the NCCCA and its members for choosing FTCC to celebrate 10 years as an association and 5 years of conference gatherings!

“I chose to do High School Connections because I saw it as an opportunity to get ahead by two years in college. I got a full ride scholarship to Hawaii and got into the Honors program.

Being a student here at FTCC allowed me to be more confident and determined. It allowed me to introduce myself to college-level work. Now, when I step on campus in the fall, I feel that I’m well prepared, and I give all my thanks to FTCC.”

FTCC recently hosted the North Carolina Nurses Association nursing advocacy event with North Carolina legislators. FTCC was one of just four state advocacy events with NC legislators. The other three were held in Raleigh, Charlotte, and Winston-Salem. FTCC was honored to host Senator McInnis and Representative Pierce for an honest discussion about advocating for the nursing profession in North Carolina to ensure high-quality healthcare for everyone.

“Being in the military, we go by promotion points, and of course, having a degree helps with getting those promotion points. I’m looking to do 20 years and retire from the military. What this is going to help with is, as I rank up through leadership, I’ll get away from the maintenance side and work more with soldiers.

My wife actually graduated from the nursing program at FTCC, and she directed me towards FTCC. I’ve done all of my classes online, and it’s been amazing. I used some of the resources at the (Bragg Training and Education Center) on Fort Bragg. They were extremely helpful and did everything I ever needed.”

“I started college right after high school, but then I became a mom, so I stopped. I continued working in early childhood education, just working based on my experience. Then one day, I said, ‘You know what? In order for me to do better, I gotta do better.’ So I decided to go back.

And I’m not stopping. I’m already enrolled to get my bachelor’s at Fayetteville State.

Right now, I’m a mentor with KinderCare, which is one of the largest networks of childcare centers in the United States. But my goal is to be a district leader over centers.

I won’t say that it was easy, balancing going to school with making sure that my son and daughter were doing OK in school. But if you’re determined, you’re able to do it. And I tell younger people, if you’re in school, don’t stop until you’re ready to stop because you don’t want to regret it.”
