Custom and Short-Term Programs Bid 'Farewell, For Now' to Departing Exchange Students A small group of international exchange students who, by dint of motivation, studied on the U of A campus this spring are now headed home but with plans to return soon.

Samadhi Pusuba Devayalage, who is a Fulbright Scholar from Sri Lanka was recently was recently recognized by the University of Arkansas Communication Sciences and Disorders Program for demonstrating "Emerging Excellence" as a first-year graduate student and future speech-language pathologist. We are so proud!

Three Graduate Students in Communication Sciences and Disorders Awarded With Recognition for Program Samadhi Pusuba Devayalage, Kendra Ledbetter and Madeline Rudolph were recognized for excellence graduate program in communication sciences and disorders.

International Education Week at the University of Arkansas kicks off today with our virtual opening ceremony at 11AM!

While many things have moved digital this year, we are as excited as ever to celebrate our international students and scholars and to highlight the exciting opportunities provided by studying in in parts of the world different from your own.

In spite of social distancing, SSSP was able to welcome our new and returning sponsored students this past month. It's was pretty amazing to see everyone and we look forward to seeing all of you in person eventually!

Communication Sciences and Disorders Program Welcomes International Graduate Scholars Samadhi Devayalage of Sri Lanka follows in the footsteps of Gayanthi Kodituwakku, a 2019 International Fulbright Scholar also from Sri Lanka.

Dr. Ahmed Dhamad, who is a former sponsored student from Iraq, was recently published in the journal of the American Society for Microbiology for his research in controlling genes in methanogens. We are so proud!

Researchers Create New Tool for Controlling Genes in Methanogens The finding will make research into areas such as climate change and biofuels cheaper, faster and more efficient.

We at the Office of Sponsored Students and Special Programs wish to congratulate our graduating and departing students on all of their hard work. Although it is saddens us that we cannot see many of you one more time at commencement, we would much rather know that you will be safe and healthy when you return home.
