Parkside Playschool

Oh baby! 🐣 Our chicks have hatched at Parkside. We’ve got 3 little chicks that momma Brownie is caring for. Everyone is so excited to watch them grow! The children help with daily care of the chickens by feeding, refilling their waters, and collecting eggs. 💚

Our chicken, Brownie, has been broody the last few weeks! Pre-K friends helped put some fertilized eggs under her on Earth Day. It takes 21 days for eggs to hatch. 🥚 This will be Brownie’s 4th clutch of eggs!

Breakfast for lunch? Yes, please! 🥞

Today’s lunch was a special request from a Pre-K kiddo: pancakes and hummus!

Chef Cameo always makes our food with love, but today there was just a little extra. 🫶🏼

Our staff meeting got a little competitive this month 👀 Who doesn’t love a little friendly competition?! Thanks to for a great time!

While all of our staff meetings focus on collaboration and growth, we host an annual team building event where teachers have a chance to build their connections with the people they work closely with while also having fun! This year was escape rooms. ☺️

We 🤍 snow days, but we also appreciate the days we can spend with each other.. Especially Dottie! 🐈‍⬛

Before the snow took over we did a fun little experiment with our kiddos! Did you know pinecones open and close naturally to protect or release their seeds? Each class took two dry, open pinecones and placed them in a jar of cold water and warm water and observed the changes.

What do you think happened?!

Families are often a topic among our kiddos 🥰

Talking about our families with kiddos makes them feel more comfortable and helps to build a sense of community. All of our classrooms have a family wall where they keep pictures of each child’s family and a basket so kiddos can hold their picture and look at it whenever they want!

We love park days! 💚

Due to some fence construction, though, our Toddler class went to the park THREE times last week! 🚧

All of our four older classes visit the park once a week as part of our program. Park trips encourage teamwork and communication between peers and provide different opportunities of play. Plus, the pictures are always priceless!
