The Sewing Cats Open by appointment. Clothing alterations, tailoring, repairs, and mending, along with celebration or memory pillows, bears and other animals.

I am a seamstress and designer who has been sewing for over 60 years. While living in Africa for over 8 years, I continued my sewing education from the tailors there who can make anything from just a picture in a catalog or a description and drawing. I love to upcycle garments and create new items from old ones, and can tailor and alter ready-to-wear as well. I make cushions, pillows, and other ho

I know school is not starting for awhile yet, but my workload is quite heavy now. My turnaround time is approaching mid-Sept. If anyone is anticipating needing alterations, etc for school or homecoming or hunting stuff, please contact me sooner rather than later. I may need to limit new jobs in order to take care of the work I currently have.

Quite a few clients are coming to see me to get items altered after weight loss. The general "rule of thumb" is that it's time to get new things with a weight difference of 35 pounds or so. The alterations needed will often exceed the cost of a replacement item. But it is a personal choice. And doesn't apply with every garment. Pants and jeans are notoriously difficult to take in due to pockets, rivets, zippers, etc. Some things can be done and some things just shouldn't. I'm happy to go over things to see what's possible and what's not. Sentimentality and budget often conflict!
