There is so much more going on when a student studies piano than just learning an instrument. Students are learning perseverance, a strong work ethic, and patience. The secret behind every successful piano student are parents who are engaged in the process and are the best cheerleaders!

Piano lessons do so much more for students than just teaching them how to play an instrument. Work ethic, patience, handling criticism, and waking up parts of their brain that will help in all parts of their learning are so important. Parents are the most important part of this equation. ❤️

This is a little throwback to my first piano recital in 2005. After teaching a few years, the parent of my very first student asked if we might have a recital. We had this sweet group of mostly neighborhood kids play. A far cry from the 80 that played last weekend, but the start of something amazing!

It was a big music weekend all around. I caught a few pictures on Instagram from some of my students who played their piano recital on Saturday and then choir concert on Sunday!

I couldn’t be more proud of my four graduating seniors. This is how many years they have studied with me, and two of them were transfer students!

Recital weekend is officially over with students playing two recitals this afternoon at the public library. 80 students in all performed this weekend, with many playing their first recital and four playing their last before heading off to college. Well done, students!

Recital #1 is a wrap! This year we added a third recital option to the weekend and it was a lovely afternoon of music at the beautiful Covenant Church in Fayetteville. From precious little preschooler Alice playing in her first recital to amazing Everly playing in her 9th, everyone did a lovely job!

Congratulations to all my students who participated in the ASMTA Region 1 festival yesterday at the University of Arkansas. Everyone scored superior on their playing and passed their theory and musicianship tests with flying colors!
