Our students will take the 2nd NC Check-In starting on Tuesday, Jan. 27th. All students will take the NC Check-In for Math and ELA, while 8th grade will also take it for Science. Due to updated testing changes, we cannot do small groups prior to whole group testing. We are also required to have a proctor for each testing session. Due to these changes, testing days will become ALL day, and some students may have to wait to take the test until a test administrator becomes available. Any of our parents that have completed the Voluntary Background check and have been approved can assist with being a proctor. Please reach out to Mr. Allen and Mrs. Melvin through email or ClassDojo if you are interested in proctoring for this Check-In or future school-wide testing. The NC Check-In is very important to what we are doing as a school to help our students grow. We use the results from the Check-In to determine what standards the students either need interventions due to lack of understanding or enrichment to further depth of knowledge. Please make sure your child gets plenty of rest and comes to school on time.

Feb 1 -3rd, 2026:
We have students that will be attending the NC BETA Club Convention (Greensboro, NC). This is subject to change due to the weather. We will keep everyone posted.

As always, please check Class Dojo, our Website, and Parent Link daily for school updates. Especially about buses. If you are not on ClassDojo and need to be added, please email your child’s homeroom teacher, and they will make sure the rest of the team gets you invited to ClassDojo.

Good morning Hornet Family, we temporarily lost power which means our phones are off, but should be back up shortly. We are aware that Gillis Rd and the area surrounding EE Miller has no power and it is not expected to be on until 8:30am according to PWC. Please be patient as we are doing the best we can in this situation. According to EE Miller, they will still have school at a normal time even with the power out.

Go Hornets!!!

Thank you to our Hornet Family for all of your support and commitment over the last couple of years. For those of you that may not quite understand how a school receives a letter designation from the State, it is based on a combination of the school’s overall proficiency (80%) and Growth (20%) on the End of Grade Tests in ELA, Math, and 8th Grade Science. Proficiency is the total number of passed tests divided by the total number of tests taken for all three tests. Growth is some magical formula that is hard to explain but refers to the students performing better than predicted on the tests. The unfortunate thing about a school letter grade is that it doesn’t take in any other factors such as school culture, amount of highly qualified teachers, economic factors, financial stability, ect. This is why the change to a letter C feels so special, because ACMS has a truly special staff that works so hard each and everyday for our students and families, but have had to carry the weight of being considered a low performing school for such a long time. Congratulations Hornet Family🎉🎉🎉 Now it’s time to reach for the next level.

Good Evening Hornet Family!!!

This is your Administrative Team with some important announcements from the HIVE:

Staff, Students, Parents, and Guardians, OUR Vision at the Hive is to help our students grow both academically and socially in a global community through Accountability, Compassion, Motivation, and Synergy. There are some crucial pieces of information that everyone needs to be aware of:

Wednesday, July 16th is the first day back for our students, and we have some crucial information to make the first day back successful.

If you are receiving this communication and you do not intend on your child attending ACMS, please contact the school to let us know.

Students will be allowed into the building at 7:00 AM. Please do not drop your child off before then because they will sit outside unsupervised.
Please be patient with our buses. The routes change every year. Just because a stop existed before, that doesn’t mean it exists now. It is important that your address is correct in Infinite Campus so that your child’s name is listed on the bus route. The bus can arrive either 10 minutes earlier than the assigned time or arrive 10 minutes later. Please have your child out and visible.

All students will enter the gym to go through the Weapons Detection Screener before going to breakfast.

Parents/Guardians will not be permitted to walk students into the building. We have plenty of staff in position to make sure your child gets to class safely.

All medication must be submitted to the front office and be accompanied with the correct health form. Do not send medication or inhalers with your child to school. Parents/guardians must come to the front office to check medications in.

We will be checking School Uniform Day 1. If your child is out of uniform, we will be calling parents to make corrections.

Dismissal is at 2:40. If your child is a car rider, please make sure to follow traffic patterns in our parking lot for parent pick-up. We form several lines and each line is released one at a time in the safest manner. Before each line is released, the students are provided time to walk to their vehicle. After a certain point, all student traffic is stopped so that we can begin moving lines. Once in your line, you will not be able to leave the line early. You must wait patiently until your line is released. If your line is released and your child is not in your car yet, you will pull up and wait at the front of your line until the next group of students is released to the vehicles. Again, you will not leave your line until dismissed. Do Not attempt to back out of the line or proceed to drive until prompted by the staff member. This can be potentially dangerous for staff and students, and we have had accidents before due to this. If you are trying to avoid waiting in the long line, arrive at the school at 2:45 PM and you will miss the wait.

Many of our 6th graders will expect to have schedule changes over the next several days. We have an estimated 320 students enrolled in 6th grade, but we are expected to only have 180 students. This means the classes could be unbalanced which will require us to update schedules. We will do our very best to keep them with the same teachers.

All students are required to purchase an ACMS lock. If they purchased an ACMS lock last year or their 6th grade year, they may still use it. Once students have their locker, all bags to include purses will be placed in the locker. If a student needs to retrieve a hygiene product before using the restroom they will be allowed to do so. Cell phones will be required to be placed in the locker as well, and if caught with a cell phone or any other electronic device, it will be confiscated.

As always, please check Class Dojo, our Website, and Parent Link daily for school updates. Especially about buses. If you are not on ClassDojo and need to be added, please email your child’s homeroom teacher, and they will make sure the rest of the team gets you invited to ClassDojo.

That is all we have from the HIVE; thank you, have a good evening, and GO HORNETS!!!!

Get ready for an exciting new year! Anne Chesnutt Middle School's Open House is scheduled for July 14th, 2025, from 3-6PM. 7th and 8th graders will meet from 3-4:30PM, while 6th graders will meet from 4:30-6PM. Keep an eye out for a Principal's Letter in the mail, packed with important information to kick-start the year.

04/08/2025

This week is National Assistant Principal’s Week. ACMS is blessed to have two dedicated, passionate, caring APs that really believe in doing what’s in the best interest for students. Mrs. Melvin has been serving the stakeholders of ACMS for the last 4 years, while Mrs. Mack-Malloy just joined the HIVE this year. Assistant Principals are crucial to the success of a school and ACMS has two that are willing to do whatever is needed to make sure the school continues to grow and experience success. This often includes early mornings, late nights, driving buses, facilitating athletic events, working with students, supporting staff, communicating with parents, and even cleaning up the occasional spill. These are just a few of the responsibilities and actions that both of these amazing APs perform…often without others even noticing or recognition. Please take a moment to celebrate them this week as they are recognized for their outstanding work at the HIVE. Thank you Mrs. Melvin and Mrs. Mack-Malloy🎉🎉🎉
