🎉 Welcome to the Cashwell Family, Ms. Laura Barfield! 🎉

We are thrilled to introduce our new Speech-Language Pathology Assistant, Laura Barfield!

Originally from Bladen County, Ms. Barfield earned her associate degree from Fayetteville Technical Community College. She is passionate about creating a welcoming environment where every child feels safe, comfortable, and excited to learn—and she can't wait to build strong relationships with our students and staff as we work toward our goals together!

Get to Know Ms. Barfield:

Hobbies: Outside of school, she loves playing music and reading. She plays the piano for a couple of local churches and always keeps her Kindle close by!

Favorite Character: Courage the Cowardly Dog—because even when he's afraid, he does anything to protect his home and family.

Dream Superpower: Freezing time, so there would always be plenty of time to work and play toward our goals!

These young individuals have been supporting us for 2-3 years now, doing work in their communities. They held a school supply drive & donated essential supplies for ECES staff & students! Thank You for Making Our Welcome Back Carnival a Huge Success! 🎈🍦

What an incredible turnout! We had over 300 students, family members, and community members join us to kick off the new school year!

Even with the heat, your energy and enthusiasm made the event special. From the fun activities and excitement at the prize tables to the cool treats and ice cream, it was wonderful seeing our school family come together to celebrate.

Thank you to everyone who attended, and a huge shoutout to all the volunteers and staff who worked hard behind the scenes to make this event possible.

Get ready for a wild new year at ECES! 🐾📚

We are so excited to welcome our newest learners to Kindergarten for the 2026-2027 school year!

To help our incoming Kindergarteners ease into their new routines, build confidence, and get personalized attention on their first day, CCS uses a Staggered Entry Schedule.

How Does Staggered Entry Work?

Students will attend school on only ONE day during the first week based on their last name:

Monday, August 24, 2026: Last Names A – F
Tuesday, August 25, 2026: Last Names G – L
Wednesday, August 26, 2026: Last Names M – S
Thursday, August 27, 2026: Last Names T – Z
Friday, August 28, 2026: Kindergarten Open House

Why Staggered Entry?

Smaller Class Sizes: Smaller groups allow teachers to give each student individualized support as they learn school routines and navigate their classrooms.

Easier Transition: A quieter environment helps lower first-day jitters and helps students build comfort and confidence.

Targeted Assessments: Teachers can complete initial baseline screeners in a calm setting to best support your child's learning journey right from the start.

We are beyond proud to announce that Elizabeth Cashwell Elementary School has officially been named a 2025–2026 National Beta School of Distinction! 🌟

This prestigious national award recognizes Beta clubs that actively work to instill academic achievement, exemplary character, demonstrated leadership, and service to others in their students. Elizabeth Cashwell earned this honor by increasing our Junior Beta Club membership by over 10% this year—joining an elite group of only 2,959 schools nationwide to receive this recognition!
