What’s up, Majors! Welcome to Week 2 of our June Manna U Moments series, GO, with DeAndra Bowie.
Last week, we explored what it means to “Go therefore and make disciples of all nations.” This week, we continue in Matthew 28:19 by looking at the next part of the Great Commission: “baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.”
What role does baptism play in the life of a believer? Baptism is an outward expression of an inward transformation—a public declaration that we have surrendered our lives to Christ and have been made new through Him.
As followers of Jesus, we are called to share the Gospel, plant seeds, and point people toward Christ. While we cannot make anyone believe, we can faithfully share the Good News and help people take their next steps in their faith journey. Whether that next step is connecting with a local church, growing in community, reading Scripture, or being baptized, discipleship is about helping people continue to follow Jesus.
As Manna U prepares to serve in the Dominican Republic alongside Manna Church and Filter of Hope, our mission remains the same: share the Gospel, serve people well, and help others take their next step toward Christ.
Remember, your GO can be here, there, or everywhere.
If you need prayer, please contact us at [email protected] or call our office at 910.221.2224. We would love to serve you!

On the northeast side of the Bay of Bengal sits one of Southeast Asia’s hidden jewels: Myanmar (Burma).
Myanmar is home to more than 55 million people and 135 ethnic groups. If London is the “whole world in one place,” then Myanmar is one place with hundreds of worlds. Different faces. Different foods. Deep sociological and economic divides. This is a complicated nation, and I’ll leave it to others to unpack why. I got spend a few weeks there in late 2019 early 2020, and I am well aware of the state of the nation post-2021. Read full article>>

I currently serve as the Committee Chair of Divinity Studies at Manna University, but it was not long ago that I was a Manna University student. While I was a student, I often wondered what life after Bible college would look like. I heard of alumni success stories where Manna University graduates were serving in “cool” ministry positions like teaching pastor, overseas missionary, and in non-profit ministries. I wondered if what I was learning in my programs of study at Manna University would lead me to “cool” ministry positions. Read the full article>>

I do not like to be late. I tend to believe punctuality is next to godliness…unless it involves me showing up late to Jiu-Jitsu, in which case I fully support missing warmups.
I plan ahead. I think in contingencies. I want to know every possible scenario before it happens. I’m wired for information, analysis, and research. I check accounts more than I should. I memorize maps for fun. And the worst thing you can say to me in a decision-making moment is, “I don’t care, what do you think?” That’s like handing keys to someone who already struggles with control. Read full article>>

Standing in the Student Union, I could hear laughter, cheers, and prayer coming from the graduate staging area. It was Saturday morning, and Manna University’s 23rd Commencement ceremony would begin shortly. Commencement is always a poignant moment at a college or university, and that sentiment certainly holds true at Manna University.
But a Christian college graduation is about more than celebrating academic achievement. Read the full article>>
