🕊️ Remembering the Life and Legacy of Board Chairwoman Judy Musgrave

Cumberland County Schools (CCS) joins the greater Cumberland County community in remembering the life and legacy of Chairwoman Judy Musgrave, an at-large member of the Cumberland County Board of Education, a lifelong educator and a devoted public servant who passed away yesterday.

Chairwoman Musgrave’s legacy in education began long before her service on the Board of Education. She retired from CCS in 2012 after a distinguished career as an educator and mathematics curriculum leader, and she continued her service to the district in 2014 when she began serving on the Cumberland County Board of Education. Known for her steady leadership, strong voice for children and deep community involvement, she brought wisdom, compassion and conviction to every role she held.

Throughout her life, Chairwoman Musgrave was recognized for her contributions to education, civic engagement and service, including being honored by the National Alumni Association of Shaw University as a “Living Legend.” Her impact reached across classrooms, boardrooms, churches and community spaces, where she consistently worked to uplift others and open doors of opportunity.

CCS extends its heartfelt condolences to Chairwoman Musgrave’s family, friends, colleagues and all who were touched by her life and leadership. Her service will continue to inspire the district’s work on behalf of every student.
