Ms. Rashad poured deeply into each of our students and we are greatful for her generosity of time and wisdom. Many, many thanks to Fayetteville Area Habitat for Humanity for making this possible. Our theatre students took a walking tour of Black history in Scotland, learning about everyone from the first African soldiers arriving with the Roman army, to Black members of the Scottish court, to Joseph Knight, an African man whose court case affirming his freedom inspired the abolition movement in Pennsylvania and beyond, to Frederick Douglass who spent time in Edinburgh, to the Scots women who did fundraising and clothing drives for Harriet Tubman and those she rescued. After that, students visited Edinburgh Castle, where they learned about histories not often told.
