Sarah Dallas
Senior
Major: Childhood Education

Quote about her experience during mid-point lesson:

This morning I taught my first elementary school lesson EVER! Although it was intimidating, teaching that 4th grade class reminded me of my passion for educating kids and truly brought me so much joy! I’ve wanted to be a teacher since I was 8 years old, so today was a monumental day to say the least 🥳

Member Spotlight: Kim Le

We asked her why she chose to be an educator!

“I am a first-generation college student. I was an ESL student growing up and struggled socially and emotionally. I got held back in Kindergarten because I didn’t speak English. The main language spoken at home was Vietnamese growing up. I had a hard time making friends because I couldn’t speak English well. I felt alone. I felt not loved. However, My first grade teacher Ms.Kinsey poured into my heart and helped strengthen me in areas that I was struggling with. She challenged me and most importantly loved me. I felt special. Growing up, I knew I wanted to help kids. It was my sophomore year of college that I felt a calling to change my major Pediatric Nursing to Education. The reason why I changed my major to childhood education because I currently serve for Fellowship church on Sunday. Worked for the Boys and Girls club After school program Monday-Friday and I would babysit Saturday nights. My week was full with kids everyday. 24/7. I enjoy it and I love it. I realize that I am currently making an impact and a difference in these kids live. I however would love to make a difference in students life 25 students at a time in a room. I would love to help students to be confident in who they are and the skin that they are in and to guide my future students in every step of the way.

I feel so honored in sharing my story! I hope it inspires others to be passionate in teaching and serve these kids as well”
