Napoleon Middle School's (NMS) Outdoor Education was actually started in 1974 when a small group of sixth graders spent a night in tents at Independence Dam State Park in Defiance, OH. This experience actually led to the outdoor education program taking place at Camp Palmer, a camp facility near Fayette,OH. In March 1975 the sixth grade teaching staff, 16 high school counselors, and 168 sixth grad

e students spent four days at Camp Palmer and began what has turned into an annual tradition. Many years later, sixth grade students and staff still look forward to this outdoor learning experience.
