Hello My Friends, I pray that you are well today…
As you are hopefully aware by now, Sunday, October 25, 2026, is Fayette First Methodist Church Stewardship Sunday. On this day, “we get to” be a part of sharing a financial estimate of giving toward the planning of our church’s ministry hopes and dreams for the year 2027! One of the greatest joys we can experience as a member of the church is to give back to God out of the blessings He has given us!
To oversee and take care of on the behalf of God was the first work Adam was given after his creation. Genesis 1:15 reads, “The Lord God took the man and put him in the Garden of Eden to work it and take care of it.” Adam was the Steward of all that God had provided for him and Eve. May I remind each of us that we are Stewards of all that God has provided in our lives, and we are to take care of it as well.
When the annual season of Financial Commitment comes around, we often only think about money. Truth…yes, the season is about our financial giving, but it isn’t only about our money! Stewardship means no less than how we use our time, our talents, our gifts, our skills, our abilities, our creativity, and our service both in and outside of the church.
Friends, I want to underscore how important a tithe (10% as the Biblical model) of our financial resources is to the work of God’s church! Our giving offers the church a fighting chance in a dark world to remain a beacon of God’s love to the lost and seeking person. But I want to underscore that our time, talents, gifts, skills, abilities, creativity and service make disciples of Jesus as well! You are the hands and the feet of Jesus with skin on.
As we move toward Sunday, October 25, 2026, and Pledge Sunday, let it not be anything less than our calling to give, but may it also be about how we give ALL of ourselves to Jesus!
I pray you are having a great week, and I look forward to worshiping with you on Sunday!
