📚 Banned Books Week is here!!

Launched in 1982, this annual event celebrates the freedom to read and highlights the importance of access to a wide range of stories and ideas. Each year, libraries, schools, and readers across the country come together to recognize and celebrate books that have faced challenges or restrictions.

Throughout the week, the library will be sharing information, trivia, and interactive activities here on Instagram. Follow along, test your book knowledge, and discover something new to read!

📖 We hope you’ll join us in celebrating books, reading, and the many stories that make our library—and our community—so interesting.

Happy , Eagles! This week, we want to share another gem from the Central Methodist University Archives and Special Collections. This studio photograph depicts the 1909-1910 men's basketball team at Central College (now Central Methodist University). Nine players are arranged around coach E. P. Puckett, the namesake of Puckett Field House and a future president of Central College, serving in the latter role in 1924, 1941-1942, and 1947-1950.

Happy , Eagles! This week, we wanted to post this throwback photo of Smiley Memorial Library. Cupples Hall has had many different renovations and expansions over the years. Can you guess what floor this photograph was taken on? (Hint: Those stairs are no longer there)

Let us know your best guess in the comments!

Every building has a beginning. 🏗️

This photograph captures Holt Hall in its earliest days in 1956, when the campus was growing to support a larger student population. Construction like this marked a new chapter in the Central Methodist University's development.

Now an established residence hall, Holt has seen decades of student life pass through its doors. What memories does Holt Hall hold for you?
