They’re officially out in the community!🌾

In honor of National Farmers Day on October 12, Fayette County Farm Bureau put together a little something to say THANK YOU to the farmers who work so hard to feed our families, support our communities and keep agriculture moving forward.🚜

Our National Farmers Day goodie bags were delivered today to local co-ops around Fayette County, where they’ll be making their way into the hands of farmers throughout harvest!🌽

So if you’re stopping by your local co-op or out in the field and spot one of these bags, know it’s just a small way for us to show our appreciation for the hardworking farmers who make such a big impact right here at home!

Congratulations to our 2026 Century Farm honorees!

Fayette County was proud to be represented at the 2026 Iowa Century and Heritage Farm Recognition Ceremony during the Iowa State Fair, where two local farm families were recognized with the Century Farm Award.

🎉 John W. and Sharon D. Orr of Fayette — recognized for their farm, established in 1905.

🎉 Daniel and Tina Haskenhoff of Sumner — recognized for their farm, established in 1925.

The Century Farm Award recognizes Iowa farms that have remained in the same family for at least 100 years, honoring generations of hard work, stewardship and dedication to the land.

These Fayette County families represent the history and tradition that continue to be such an important part of agriculture in our community. We are proud to celebrate their stories and the legacy they are carrying forward.

Please join us in congratulating the Orr and Haskenhoff families on this well-deserved honor!

Poppin’ into learning!🌽🍿

Today, NFV kindergarteners had a poppin’ fun Ag in the Classroom lesson all about one of their favorite snacks..POPcorn!!

Students learned the differences between field corn, sweet corn and popcorn, discovered how popcorn is grown and harvested, and explored the science behind what makes those little kernels POP!💥🍿

Of course, no popcorn lesson would be complete without getting to see the magic happen firsthand!! Who knew there was so much agriculture and science behind a bowl of popcorn?!

🐷 It’s October Pork Month!

Did you know Iowa's pork industry has a significant economic impact on the state. It provides jobs, supports local communities and contributes to the state's overall economy.

Livestock is responsible for 13% of Fayette County jobs! These jobs support pig farmers and put money back into the local economy.

Fayette County Farm Bureau was well represented at the 2026 Iowa Farm Bureau Summer Policy Conference in West Des Moines!

Thank you to Tyler Wynthein for serving as our county’s voting delegate and bringing Fayette County’s voice to the table alongside Farm Bureau members from across Iowa.

Farm Bureau’s policy process starts right here at the county level with members sharing ideas, concerns and priorities that help shape the policies guiding Iowa Farm Bureau’s advocacy efforts.

We’re grateful for Tyler’s time and willingness to represent Fayette County and be part of that process. Thank you for helping make sure the voices of our members are heard at the state level!

Ag in the Classroom is back in session!

That means our Outreach Coordinator will be spending plenty of time out and about in classrooms across Fayette County, helping students learn more about agriculture and where their food, fiber and other everyday products come from!

Because of that, our office may occasionally be unattended while we’re out visiting schools. If you stop by or give us a call and we aren’t available, please leave us a voicemail and we’ll get back to you as soon as possible.

You can also reach us by email at [email protected].

We’re excited to be back in the classroom and connecting with Fayette County students!🌾🍎🐄

National Farm Safety & Health Week is a reminder that safety should be part of every day on the farm, especially as harvest approaches.

From slowing down around equipment to staying visible on the road, keeping children away from moving machinery and knowing what to do in an emergency, a few simple precautions can make a difference.

As harvest season gets underway, take the time to stay alert, look out for one another and make safety a priority.

Safety today, success tomorrow.
