Exciting News for Our Counseling Program! 🎉

Dear Counseling Students and Alumni:

This morning, I opened my mailbox and came across a wonderful email from Mrs. Lizz Norris, Outreach Coordinator for Counseling Psychology, sharing some exciting news about our Counseling Program!

I am very happy to share with you that Upper Iowa University’s Counseling Program, including both the Mental Health Counseling and School Counseling tracks, has been ranked #3 among the best counseling programs in Iowa for 2026-2027! 🎉

You can view the ranking here: https://www.counselingpsychology.org/psychology/schools/iowa/

I could not have been happier to receive this news. This recognition is a wonderful reflection of the dedication, passion, and hard work of our entire counseling faculty and staff team.

But this achievement is also about you. Our counseling-in-training students are at the heart of everything we do. Your commitment to your education, your growth as future counselors, and your dedication to serving others are what make our program so special.

A huge thank you to everyone who has contributed to making this achievement possible. I am incredibly proud of what we have built together and, most importantly, of the students we have the privilege of serving. 💜

Congratulations to our entire Counseling Program community! 🎓👏

Keep up the great work, and thank you for being an important part of our program!

Warmly,
~ Dr. Panos Markopoulos

The Counseling Compact has reached another milestone as over 3,000 counselors have received privileges to practice across state lines! The Counseling Compact enables professional counselors who meet uniform licensure requirements to quickly obtain a privilege to practice, which is equivalent to a license to practice counseling in another state.

The Counseling Compact represents the biggest change in the counseling profession in 20 years and has the potential to increase access to the estimated 122 million people in the U.S. who live in areas with mental health provider shortages.
