Our 2nd graders traded standard classroom supplies for hammers, drills, and creative builds during an action-packed field trip to HopeCAT! 🛠️✨

Through the K-8 Trades and Tech Initiative, our students got an exciting, hands-on introduction to the Construction Trades—learning all about tool safety, precision, and job-site teamwork.

Here is a peek at what our young builders tackled throughout the day:

🔨 Building Toolboxes: Students learned proper gripping and safe tool handling while hammering golf tees into foam and customizing their very own tool belts.

🎨 Tool-Powered Art: Creativity met trade skills as students explored how rubber mallets and drills can be used alongside paint to create unique designs.

🏗️ Team "Building" Challenges: Working together in the student lounge, classes used communication and critical thinking to design and construct job-site structures as a team.

From morning stretches all the way to final team builds, our 2nd graders showed up with huge enthusiasm, focus, and curiosity.

Take a look through the photos and videos below to see our future craftspeople, artists, and engineers in action! 🧱📐👏

Big shoutout to two exceptional students making big moves for their futures and our community! 🚑💨

Congratulations to Sadie Weiland and Jada Kennedy! These driven young leaders are currently attending the EMT Program at HopeCAT, where they are earning high school credits while actively working toward their official EMT certification.

Balancing high school coursework with hands-on, life-saving training takes incredible dedication, focus, and heart. We could not be prouder of the hard work and ambition Sadie and Jada demonstrate every day as they prepare for careers on the frontlines of emergency care.

Proud moment for the Farrell Area School District! 🛠️✨

A huge shoutout to Mr. Hanahan for representing our Farrell Area High School Construction Trades Program at the MCBA Code Training and Picnic at Wilson's Lumber in New Castle!

Mr. Hanahan did a fantastic job presenting to local industry leaders—outlining the incredible work our students are doing and making a compelling pitch to open up paid internship opportunities for our future tradespeople. He kept the room engaged from start to finish and represented our school district with true pride.

We are constantly working to build real-world career pathways for our students, and nights like this move us one step closer. Thank you to the Mercer County Builders Association and Wilson's Lumber for hosting and supporting the next generation of builders! 🔨🏗️
