Good evening, Farmville Patriot Families!
This is your principal, Dr. Casey, with your weekly Patriot Update for the week of August 24, 2026.
It was great to see so many of our students and families at Open House last week! It is a pleasure to serve at FMS, and I want to thank everyone for the warm welcome. I hope our students and families had a restful weekend and are ready for an awesome first week of school!
🚌 Bus Transportation
Farmville Middle School bus routes were distributed during Open House. If you were unable to attend, please check Facebook and ClassDojo for bus route information. If you have a specific transportation question, please reach out to Assistant Principal Harrell.
Please remember that bus routes and arrival times often vary during the first week of school as transportation works to make adjustments. Students should be at their bus stop at least 15 minutes before their scheduled arrival time. Thank you for your patience and flexibility as we work together to keep our buses rolling and our students arriving safely and ready to learn!
🎵 Band & Orchestra Instrument Rental Nights
Students in Band or Orchestra who need to rent an instrument will have two opportunities to do so in the commons are outside the gym:
Thursday, August 27, 5:30–6:30 p.m. — Music & Arts
Tuesday, September 1, 5:30–6:30 p.m. — Fuller’s Music
🏈🏐📣🏃 Patriot Athletics
It is a busy week for Patriot Athletics!
- Football: Our team will participate in the Football Jamboree at - Wellcome Middle School beginning at 4:00 p.m.
- Volleyball: Workouts will be held Monday, with tryouts Tuesday–Thursday until 6:00 p.m.
- Cheerleading & Cross Country: Tryouts will be held Monday- Wednesday until 6:00 p.m.
We are excited to get our fall athletic season underway. Go Patriots!

💉 Important 7th Grade Immunization Reminder:
Parents and guardians of 7th-grade students: All 7th-grade students must meet state immunization requirements within the first 30 calendar days of school, by September 22, 2026. Students who have not met these requirements by that date will be placed on medical suspension until documentation of the required immunizations is provided. Please contact our school nurse, Nurse Smith, with any questions.
📌 Parents and guardians, state law requires schools to show videos produced by the North Carolina Center for Safer Schools addressing the sensitive topic of grooming behavior. These videos must be shown to students within the first five days of school. At FMS, we plan to show the videos on Friday, August 28, during Patriot Period.

⏰ First-Week Reminders
- Instructional Day: Monday–Friday, 8:30 a.m.–3:30 p.m.
- Student Arrival: 8:00–8:30 a.m. Students arriving after 8:30 a.m. are considered tardy.
- Early Bird: Begins at 7:30 a.m. and costs $2.00 per day, per student. Early Bird drop-off is located at the rear bus loop near the gym entrance.
- Student Checkouts: To help us maintain an orderly dismissal, no student checkouts will be permitted after 3:00 p.m.
- Breakfast and lunch is free this year. Forgotten lunch boxes and water bottles will be accepted until 10:30. No food/drink from outside restaurants.
- Cellphones/electronic devices are to be turned off and stored in backpacks. Teachers may collect cellphones from the entire class upon entering the classroom.
