🇵🇹 URGENT: OUR CHILDREN ARE READY TO LEARN. WE NEED SOMEONE TO TEACH THEM. 🇵🇹
Without IMMEDIATE ACTION, First and Second Year Classes Cannot Be Offered.
We are facing a CRITICAL TEACHER SHORTAGE that threatens the future of our Portuguese language program. IF WE DO NOT FIND A SECOND TEACHER NOW, WE WILL BE UNABLE TO OFFER FIRST AND SECOND YEAR CLASSES, turning away children who are eager to learn Portuguese and connect with their heritage.
Every year, children enter our school ready to discover their language, explore their culture, and embrace the traditions that have been passed down through generations. But this year, they may not have that chance.
Escola Antero de Figueiredo Portuguese School is in urgent need of a dedicated individual who is willing to help preserve our language, culture, and community. The situation is critical. Without a second teacher immediately, we will have no choice but to:
• Close enrollment for first and second year classes: no classes will run
• Turn away new students who wish to learn
• Deny our youngest learners the opportunity to connect with their Portuguese roots
• Risk losing these families from our community permanently
This is not a future concern; this is happening now. Classes are scheduled to begin in mid-September, and we do not have the second teacher we need to open the doors for our beginning students.
Teaching at our school is more than a job. It is a lifeline for our community. Every lesson taught helps ensure that our children continue to speak Portuguese, understand their roots, and carry our traditions forward. Without you, an entire generation of children may lose this connection.
Whether you are an experienced educator or simply someone who is passionate about the Portuguese language and culture, we urgently need you to consider joining our team.
What We Offer:
• $40 per hour
• 2-hour weekly class plus 1 hour of paid preparation
• Curriculum and materials provided
• Teaching experience preferred, but not required
