Last night SNMA, LMSA and the OB/GYN Interest Group teamed up to host UConn Health's 1st Annual Racial Disparities in Maternal Morbidity and Mortality Conference.
The U.S. is the only developed country to have increasingly high maternal related deaths. Additionally, black women, regardless of socioeconomic status, are 3-4 times more likely to die from pregnancy related death than their white counterparts.
Educating others on this issue is important and we hope to continue this conference until these numbers lower!
