The Urban Service Track is designed to produce a cadre of well qualified health care professionals committed to serving Connecticut's urban underserved populations. As Urban Health Scholars, participants represent a select group of students enrolled in the University of Connecticut Schools of Pharmacy, Nursing, Medicine, Dental Medicine, Social Work, and Quinnipiac University's Physician Assistant

☀️ Introducing Our Summer Team: Highlights So Far! ☀️

Our summer team has already made a remarkable impact through service, leadership, and community engagement!

🌴 June 7–11, 2026 – Team members participated in the Vieques 2026 Community-Based Educational Training in Vieques, Puerto Rico, helping to serve approximately 265 community members through clinical & educational outreach, and community-focused activities

🎓 June 29, 2026 – Students shared their experiences and insights as guest panelists at the Northwestern CT AHEC Medical Careers Club Summer Kick-Off Program at UConn Waterbury, inspiring high school students interested in pursuing careers in healthcare.

🍎 June 25, 2026 – The team also attended the End Hunger Connecticut Policy Summit at Wesleyan University in Middletown, CT, expanding their understanding of food insecurity, policy initiatives, and community solutions.

We are incredibly proud of our summer team for their dedication to community service, health education, and advocacy. Their passion for making a difference is creating a meaningful impact both locally and beyond.

We look forward to supporting their continued efforts throughout the summer. Upcoming events include the Coventry Farmers Market this Saturday, 07/12/26, and the Urban League 5K on July 18, 2026. We encourage everyone to come out and connect with our team as they continue serving our communities

We are excited to see all they accomplish throughout the rest of the summer!

UST/AHEC Scholars and UST Faculty- reminder- Academic Year Closing Program is tomorrow night! Doors open at 6:30pm for light refreshments before the program begins at 7pm.
