Thank you to everyone who joined us last week for the CT Job Fair held at our Tunxis Bristol Campus! With over 24 vendors and 170 visitors, many great impressions and important connections were made.

Vendors representing job opportunities from the fields of healthcare, administration, transportation, insurance, engineering, and many more showed up to meet with and offer opportunities to those attending the event.

🚗 Parking Lot Update 🚗

Parking Lot D (the one in the back and side) is finished with its new makeover and is open for general parking! But the summer beautification doesn’t stop there. For two weeks (fingers crossed), the main entrance will be closed to allow for concrete and paving work to commence in the flagpole area! During this time, please use the fishbowl entrance (the entrance closer to the bus stop) to access the 100 Building.

Thank you for your understanding, and we can’t wait for you all to see the project when it is finished!

Did you know?

The word Tunxis means "the bend of the little river" or "at the point where the river bends". It was the Indigenous name for the Farmington River area and the Tunxis tribe who lived there—and if you ever need a reminder of that fun fact, look up as you walk down the 600 Building hallway. You’ll see the dangling arrangement hanging from the ceiling, forming a beautiful blue bend in a river of lights!

Whether it’s students or fungi—growth seems like an inevitability at CT State Tunxis. 🍄‍🟫 Be sure to check out these beautiful mushrooms growing in front of Founders Hall, and if you’d like to learn more about the environment that makes these fungi possible, be sure to register for one of the stellar environmental science, biology, or other science-focused classes here at Tunxis!

💙 Coming Soon: A Naloxone Cabinet at CT State Tunxis

CT State Tunxis is proud to partner with Amplify and the Connecticut Department of Mental Health and Addiction Services (DMHAS) to bring a publicly accessible, free naloxone cabinet to our campus.

This important initiative expands access to a life-saving medication that can reverse opioid overdoses and strengthens our commitment to the health, safety, and well-being of our students, employees, and visitors.

The cabinet will be installed in an accessible campus location, with details about its placement near the Campus Security Station and available educational resources to be shared soon. It will be regularly monitored and restocked to ensure naloxone is available when it is needed most.

At CT State Tunxis, caring for our community means taking action. We are grateful to our partners for helping us create a safer and more supportive campus for all.

🏀 Did you know that in 1979, the Tunxis men’s basketball team was ranked number one in their league? Not only that, but we ended the season with 24 wins and only 2 losses. And (not that we were keeping track), but we had zero losses against any other New England team that season.

Even though by the mid-80s, sports teams at Tunxis had to be phased out due to budget cuts, they will always be an exciting part of our history!
