Tunxis students—get ready for an exciting opportunity! The Connecticut Mirror, a digital, nonprofit newsroom located in Hartford, is offering a paid internship during the 2026 fall semester to a Tunxis student!

The student chosen for this internship will work with experienced reporters and editors and earn three credits. The intern will work on social media posts, short-form video, newsletters, and some written reporting during the semester. Selected students will be expected to work 10 hours per week and must have transportation to Hartford. They will work in CT Mirror's Hartford office with occasional trips to the state Capitol newsroom.

The internship will run from the week of Aug. 27, 2026, through Dec. 16, 2026, and pays $17.00 per hour. It is recommended that interested students have taken ENG 1010, but the final decision will be made based on application details and strength of work samples.

To apply, please send a cover letter, resume, and two examples of your work to Ginny Monk, internship coordinator, [email protected], and CC [email protected], by July 1. Work samples can include social media posts for a brand (such as vertical videos, slideshows, or stories), newsletters, graphic design work, written works of journalism, or academic writing.

Good luck, students! We can’t wait to see what you do with this opportunity.

Tunxis community, you may have noticed the back parking lot being blocked off—this is a part of our continued dedication to improving the Tunxis campus for our faculty, staff, and students. This work, which began on June 3rd, includes parking lots, sidewalks, and curbing. Weather permitting (no rain), this is estimated to be a 4–6-week project.

During that time, parking will be restricted to the parking lots A, B, and C. Heavy equipment will be housed in the back lot, and out of safety, we are restricting parking in that area.

Thank you for understanding. We hope you all are enjoying the summer!

We want to take this time to highlight another award recipient here at Tunxis. This time, we celebrate Dr. Marcia Tinone for earning the “System-wide Teaching Award for the Connecticut State Community College” at the 2025-2026 Faculty Awards Ceremony!

Dr. Marcia Tinone, Associate Professor of Chemistry at CT State Tunxis, not only teaches at Tunxis, but during her doctoral work, developed “site-specific reactions,” employing light to precisely cut molecules—a remarkable achievement in precision chemistry. She also became the first to fabricate self-standing soft X-ray mirrors, earning a prestigious award in the process.

We are thrilled about the recognition Dr. Tinone has received in this award, and we are so glad to have her as a professor, inspiring and teaching the next generation.

From the Stonewall Riots of June 1969 to the present day, there have been many milestones in the journey for equality and recognition of the LGBTQIA2S+ community—a community which we value deeply here at CT State Tunxis. Next time you’re on campus, take a look around at some of these milestones via the signage around campus.

Congratulations to our very own student worker, Rosalynn Peters, for having earned the “Student Worker Commitment Award” at the CT State Distinguished Presidential Award Ceremony!

This award signifies more than just hard work; it signifies the commitment, dedication, and skill required to shine brightly in Rosalynn’s much-needed position at the CT State Tunxis OneStop Center.

However, her accolades at Tunxis don’t stop there. Even while working diligently as a student worker, Rosalynn also wholeheartedly pursued her education—and has just graduated from Tunxis this month as a first-generation student!

Well done, Rosalynn! You make Tunxis proud.
