Yes, I teach classical technique, sight reading, etc⦠but I also love letting students bring in music theyāre passionate about.
Hereās a talented student Andrew whoās in the middle of creating a piano cover of one of his favorite songs. He didnāt use any sheet music, just his ear, to come up with this and heās doing great so far!
Music lessons should fuel creativity, not just check boxes! Way to go, Andrew!

Hi! If you have a child that likes music, this Friday, I'm hosting a free "Intro to Jazz" workshop at the Farmington Library. (La La Land image added for attention š ...)
I'm a local piano teacher, but we'll cover concepts about jazz that will help any musician interested in learning about jazz.
(This will be mainly geared towards kids, but interested adults are welcome too.)
I'll hold a beginner class from 3:30-4:10 pm (for those with 0-2 years of previous musical experience) and an intermediate class from 4:15-5 pm (for those who have played an instrument for a few years, but are fairly new to playing jazz).
If you have kids who play piano (or any instrument) and are interested in learning about jazz music, please come. I'd love to have an idea of how many will be there beforehand, so please comment below if you'd like to come (of course, you can always show up last second too).
I love sharing music and playing with others. There will be opportunities for audience participation for those who want. And I'm a pianist, but other instrumentalists are welcome to bring their instruments if they'd like to join in.
