As our 90th Anniversary year comes to a close, we are filled with gratitude for the many moments of celebration, reflection, and community shared at Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic School.

Together, we honored nine decades of faith-filled education, lasting traditions, and the generations of families who have made Our Lady of Sorrows such a special place. Guided by God’s grace and the example of Our Lady, this anniversary year reminded us how deeply rooted we are in faith, service, and community. As we reflect on the blessings of the past 90 years, we give thanks for all those who have answered the call to nurture hearts, minds, and souls within our school community. While this milestone celebration may be ending, the mission of Our Lady of Sorrows continues each day as we form disciples of Jesus and carry His light into the future.

Thank you for being part of this beautiful chapter in our story. May God continue to bless the OLS community for generations to come!

We are pleased to announce the 2025-2026 Teacher of the Year for Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic School- Mr. Kevin Whinnery!

Mrs. Ambrose presented this award at our School Mass in May. She shared the following….

Mr. Whinnery is a teacher who puts in the work... the kind of work that shows up in every lesson, every activity, and every moment he spends guiding his students. His teaching style is so clear that even Moses would say, “Now that’s how you give instructions.”

He makes learning engaging — truly engaging — the kind of engaging where students suddenly care deeply about ancient civilizations, moral decision-making, and why the fall of Rome wasn’t just a long time ago, but actually kind of interesting. Students don’t just learn in his classroom; they thrive. They understand. They grow. And they come back. Constantly.

Not only is Mr. Whinnery a beloved teacher, we are also proud to call him an alumni of OLS - the Class of 2004!

For the past 13 years, Mr. Whinnery has faithfully served the students and families of Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic School. He is admired by students, parents, and colleagues alike.

Thank you, Mr. Whinnery, for all that you do and may the Lord bless you in your service as an educator of Saints!
