The Program
San Juan College has two PTA Programs, including its on-campus and online programs. The Online Program requires students to be at San Juan College, approximately one week per PTA lab course, at the end of each semester. Both PTA programs have full accreditation through the Commission on Accreditation in Physical Therapy Education (CAPTE), of the American Physical Therapy Association
(APTA). Admission
Both the On-Campus and the Online Physical Therapist Assistant programs are selective. Applicants are ranked based on the following selection criteria: GPA in the Prerequisite Courses (65%), Admissions Exam Score (20%), Letters of Recommendations (15%), New Mexico Resident Credit (5%) and a Re-Applicant Credit (1%) for applicants re-applying due to being previously placed on a waiting list to enter the program. The Admissions Exam is the HOBET V Exam for all applicants applying to either program. This exam is taken specifically for the PTA program applicant, and is not replaced by taking the Accuplacer exam, for admission to San Juan College. Public Availability of Outcomes Information
While CAPTE (accrediting body) has always had an expectation (in the Evaluative Criteria) that programs provide current and prospective students with information about program outcomes, the CHEA standard is that we have implemented criteria or policies/procedures that require student outcomes information to be available to the public. To meet this expectation, CAPTE adopted the following:

(b) Student Outcomes
(1) The program must provide the public with accurate, reliable and easily available information about student outcomes, preferably via the program’s webpage. At a minimum, this information must include graduation rate, ultimate licensure exam pass rate, and employment rate, over the most recent three years, and must be updated annually at the time that the program submits its Annual Accreditation Report. These rates are as follows:
(i) Graduation rate: Per the formula required in the Annual Accreditation Report the rates are as follows:
a. Class Year 2009 – 89.7%
c. Class Year 2008 – 64.7%
(ii) Licensure examination pass rate: This information is consistent with the information published by the Federation of State Boards of Physical Therapy
a. Ultimate pass rate for the graduating 2008, 2009, 2010 cohorts – 87%
(iii) Employment rate: % of graduates who were employed as PTs or PTAs within six months of passing the licensure examination
a. Graduating cohorts of 2011 – 91%
b. Graduating cohorts of 2010 – 92%
c. Graduating cohorts of 2009 – 100%
