Building and creating have always come naturally to Nicky, and from day one, she says the San Juan College Building Trades Program has felt like home. Nicky especially loves the hands-on projects and is excited to learn new skills.

“It feels great to have my own tools and not have to borrow from others.” Not only did Nicky use her funding to purchase the tools and equipment necessary to establish her career, but she also had enough to help her cover the cost of gas.

Nicky is passionate about finding her career path and hopes to open a business one day, creating custom-made woodworks. Her advice to others? “If you have a passion for something but are uncertain about what to do in life, you should try because you will never know until you do.”
