Job-Shadow/Internship
Work-Based Learning is a proactive approach to bridging the gap between high school and high-demand/skill/wage careers; providing students with the needed skills that are difficult to learn solely through classroom-based instruction.

Today was a great day! 🎉 Our Work-Based Learning interns completed the final part of their training—mock interviews!

This amazing group of interns represented Farmington High School, Piedra Vista High School, and San Juan College High School.

These students have worked incredibly hard throughout a rigorous training program focused on résumé writing, employability skills, professional communication, interview preparation, and what it takes to succeed in today’s workforce. They all did an amazing job, and I am so proud of each of them!

A huge thank-you to all our mentors and community volunteers who took the time to interview, encourage, and provide valuable feedback to our students. Your support is what makes this program so meaningful and successful!

I cannot wait to watch these students begin their internships, grow in confidence, and discover their true potential. Their futures are bright! 🌟

This is heartbreaking news for our community and our students.

Coach Kiraly was a huge part of our CTE team at PV, teaching Business and Work-Based Learning. He came to us from oilfield sales. Loved coaching, but said he felt disconnected from his guys if he wasn’t in the classroom too. So he made the jump to teaching. He was tough, but he showed up. He cared about our kids, and he cared about our program.

He’ll be remembered by our CTE team and by all the students who knew him.

You will be missed, coach!

Our Panther Baseball family is devastated to share the following news. Our hearts are broken for the loss our whole community is feeling. Please keep the Kiraly Family in your thoughts and prayers as they navigate this unimaginable loss.

Dear Piedra Vista Family,
Our school community is deeply saddened by the passing of a giant among us, Coach Jeff Kiraly. Coach Kiraly’s impact on our students, staff, and broader community was immeasurable, and his loss will be felt for a long time to come. We extend our heartfelt condolences to his family, students, colleagues, and friends during this difficult time.
We are sharing this news ahead of our return to school so that our community has time to process before students and staff are back together in the building.
Grief affects everyone differently, and there is no right or wrong way to feel right now. To support our staff and students through this loss, members of our counseling team will be available all week to meet individually or in small groups, both in scheduled sessions and on a drop-in basis, for anyone who needs a space to talk, ask questions, or simply be with others who understand.
In the coming days, we will continue to check in with students and staff, and we will share additional information as needed. Please know that our entire school family, teachers, counselors, and administrators, is here for you and your children during this time.
If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to reach out to our staff.
With deepest sympathy,
Piedra Vista High School

🌟 Business Partner Shoutout: Four Corners Cancer Center 🌟

Four Corners Cancer Center has always offered amazing opportunities to our Work Based Learning interns! 💙

We’ve had several of our interns turn their internships into full-time jobs right here. That’s what it’s all about — real skills, real experience, real futures.

A huge THANK YOU to the Neidharts for opening your doors to the students in our community and investing in the next generation. Your partnership changes lives.

We’re so grateful for businesses like yours who believe in our kids! 🙌

At Four Corners Cancer Center, we are proud to partner with educational institutions, including UNM, San Juan College and the Farmington Municipal Schools Work-Based Learning Program, to provide internship opportunities for students interested in healthcare careers.

Many students begin with us as high school juniors and seniors and continue their journey throughout college, returning during school breaks to gain additional hands-on experience in a healthcare setting.

Some opportunities are paid and many students build lasting relationships that can lead to future career opportunities when they return to the Four Corners area after completing their education.

We are grateful to our educational partners and proud of every student who chooses to learn and grow with us. Investing in local talent today helps strengthen the healthcare workforce of tomorrow.
