Kristin Dwyer is an Orton-Gillingham instructor who enjoys helping children discover that they CAN read!. She has worked with young struggling readers, middle years kids who have stalled out or never learned, and middle schoolers whose lack of a solid foundation has left them floundering with more complex writing and reading expectations. Kristin is able to motivate older children to take charge o
f their learning and relish in their accomplishments as well as instruct the youngest child using
age appropriate, multi-sensory methodologies. Through the years, Kristin has worked in both large and small classroom environments and tutoring situations teaching children 5-15 years of age where many of the children have had different types of learning challenges in reading, writing and math including dyslexia. She has helped non-readers become readers, children afraid of math become accomplished and confident, and struggling writers find the joy in sharing their stories. A 10-year old girl once called Kristin her math hero when she could finally add two numbers together because she had given up and thought it impossible. A 9-year old boy who was a non-reader in her class came up to grade level with daily practice over the course of a year. It is the passion, commitment and a profound depth of experience coupled with her ability to help children move through their feelings of frustration and hopelessness that make her unique. She looks forward to talking with you more about how you can best build a partnership to move your child forward.
