We are celebrating 10 years of the 1,000 Books Before Kindergarten program with Jim Gill!

Jim Gill is an award-winning musician and author whose joyful, interactive songs get children and grown-ups singing, moving, and laughing together.

Bring a t-shirt for your child to FCL Farmington on October 10 and we'll provide iron-on designs to help your family get concert-ready!

Then, come sing, clap, and dance with us at our Family Concert with Jim Gill on October 17 at FCL Farmington Hills 🎶👏

We will celebrate how many books you have read or get you started with the 1,000 Books before Kindergarten program. Everyone will also have a chance to do a special Wish-Along family literacy and art activity. Siblings are welcome.

Please note that these events take place at different locations. Please confirm the FCL location and address before you join us. Jim Gill will not be at the Make Your Own Merch event.

FCL Farmington Hills (32737 W. 12 Mile Rd.) will reopen at 4 p.m. today, Monday, October 5, following a temporary closure related to renovation work.

FCL Farmington Hills will continue to operate with limited hours and services through Thursday, October 8. Normal hours will resume on Friday, October 9, and the closed areas listed below will reopen to the public.

Temporary Hours
• Monday–Thursday, October 5–8: 4–9 p.m.
• Friday, October 9: Normal hours resume

Patrons may now return materials to FCL Farmington Hills.

Holds that were waiting for pickup during the closure have been extended through Friday, October 9.

The following areas will remain closed and inaccessible to the public through Thursday, October 8:

• Children’s Department
• Teen Area
• Fiction Browsing Room
• Friends Sale Room

Collections located within these areas will not be available for browsing. Materials from these collections may still be requested through the catalog and picked up once available. Please wait to receive a hold notification before visiting the Library. Holds may take longer than usual to process and may not be available for same-day pickup.

FCL Farmington (23500 Liberty St.) remains open with normal hours and services.

Please check farmlib.org/renovations for the latest information about renovation-related service impacts and project updates.

We appreciate your understanding as this necessary work has been completed and FCL Farmington Hills reopens to the community.

FCL Farmington Hills remains temporarily closed, but we expect to reopen early next week. We do not yet have a confirmed reopening date and will announce it as soon as it is available.

The closure followed the discovery of asbestos-containing material during ongoing renovation work. Abatement work is underway, and required environmental testing will be completed before the building safely reopens.

When the building reopens, it will continue to operate with limited hours of 4–9 p.m., Monday–Thursday. These temporary hours will remain in effect through Thursday, October 8.

We understand that an unexpected closure can be disruptive, and we appreciate your understanding as we complete this necessary work and take the steps needed to safely reopen the building.

Join us Thursday evenings in October as we haunt the streets of Downtown Farmington for the 7th Annual Grand Raven Festival!

We'll wind our way through town listening to a recitation of The Raven by Edgar Allan Poe. Victorian/macabre attire strongly encouraged!

Our walk begins at the Liberty Street entrance of the FCL Farmington location at the stroke of 6:30.

Our Farmington Hills location is temporarily closed, but our Farmington location is open with normal hours and services 📚❤️

Our Farmington staff can’t wait to see you!

We will have some more information to share in the coming days regarding a reopening date for the Farmington Hills building. Thank you for your patience and understanding as renovation work progresses at Farmington Hills.

We do not yet know when the Farmington Hills location will reopen. Please check farmlib.org and the Library’s social media channels for updates as more information becomes available.

Holds waiting for pickup at FCL Farmington Hills will be extended indefinitely until four days after the Library reopens. You do not need to contact the Library to extend your hold.

New holds placed on materials from the Farmington Hills location will not be processed until the building reopens.

Materials can still be returned using the drive-through material return slot. However, patrons may also wait until the building reopens to return materials. The Library does not charge late fees on materials.
