Start September strong. đŸ”„ Set the tone for the month by showing up, doing the hard things, and choosing progress over excuses. Whether you’re already training or you’ve been thinking about starting BJJ, make September the month you commit—get on the mats, put in the work, and see what you’re capable of.

POV: You just got your blue belt
 💙

And the old school brown belts waste ZERO time recruiting you to the dark side. 😈😂

“One word: curiosity .” đŸ€đŸ’€

Apparently blue belt doesn’t just unlock new techniques
it unlocks questionable friendships and wristlocks. đŸ˜‚đŸ„‹

“My kid says they don’t want to do Jiu-Jitsu anymore.”

BJJ is hard—and sometimes, that’s exactly why they want to quit.

Of course kids would rather stay home, play video games, and choose what gives them instant gratification. That’s easier. Jiu-Jitsu requires effort, patience, discipline, and being uncomfortable sometimes.

They’ll lose. They’ll struggle. They’ll have days they don’t want to go. But that’s where growth happens.
Sometimes parenting means saying:
“I know it’s hard. I know you don’t feel like going today. But we made a commitment, and we’re going to keep showing up.”

Because one day, the lesson they remember may not be the armbar or the takedown.

It may be that they learned not to quit on themselves when things got hard. đŸ„‹â€ïž

You know what’s crazy? 1 hour at the gym is only about 4% of your entire day. đŸ’Ș

Just 4%.

But that one hour can change the other 96%.

đŸ”„ More energy
đŸ”„ Better mood
đŸ”„ More confidence
đŸ”„ Less stress
đŸ”„ Better sleep
đŸ”„ A stronger body AND mind

You don’t need to have it all figured out. You don’t need to be in shape before you start. You just need to show up.

Give us 4% of your day and see what it can do for the other 96%.

đŸ„‹ Never trained before? Perfect. We love helping beginners take that first step.

👇 Comment “START” or send us a message and we’ll help you get into your first class at Team Lawton Martial Arts & Fitness.

Who’s giving themselves that 4% today? 👊

You don’t need experience.
And you definitely don’t need to “get ready” before you start.
You just have to walk through the door.
Wednesday night NoGi is about learning, challenging yourself, getting a great workout, and becoming part of a community that wants to see you improve.
Look at this crew. đŸ”„ Every person in this picture started with a first class.

In Germany, they have a word: Du Kampfzwerg—a battle dwarf. đŸ‘ŠđŸ„‹

When I first learned that word, I couldn’t help but smile. As someone who’s little, it fits.

Jiu-Jitsu has taught me that size has very little to do with what you’re capable of. Strength isn’t measured by your height or weight—it’s measured by your heart, your discipline, and your willingness to keep getting back up.

Being underestimated can be your greatest advantage. The smallest person in the room often has the biggest fight in them.

I’ll proudly be a Kampfzwerg every day. đŸ’ȘđŸ”„

One day you’ll look around the mats and realize that many of the people you started with are no longer there.

Life got busy. Training got hard. Some gave up.

But some chose to stay.

They kept showing up through the setbacks, the injuries, the losses, and the days they didn’t feel like training. Because they stayed, they became stronger—not just in Jiu-Jitsu, but in life.

The greatest reward isn’t just the belt around your waist. It’s the character you build, the friendships that become family, and the person you become along the way.

Congratulations to Benjamin on earning his black belt, and to all of our students who earned their blue, purple, and brown belts. Every promotion represents years of dedication, perseverance, and choosing to stay when it would have been easier to quit.

We are so proud of all of you. Thank you for trusting us with your journey and for becoming more than teammates—you’ve become family. đŸ–€đŸ€ŽđŸ’œđŸ’™

Motivation gets you started. Discipline keeps you showing up. Mindset determines how far you’ll go.

Some days you’ll feel unstoppable. Other days you’ll be tired, frustrated, or questioning your progress. The champions aren’t the ones who always feel motivated—they’re the ones who train anyway.

Every class, every round, every challenge is an opportunity to become stronger, not just in Jiu-Jitsu, but in life.

Build discipline. Develop a champion’s mindset. The results will follow.

đŸ„‹ What’s harder for you: staying motivated or staying disciplined? Let me know in the comments! 👇

There’s something special about summer training. đŸ€Ł

The mats are hot, the rolls are sweaty, and by the end of class everyone is exhausted—but we keep showing up because we love this sport.

Jiu-Jitsu teaches us that growth doesn’t happen when conditions are perfect. It happens when we stay consistent, encourage each other, and keep learning one class at a time.

And honestly
there’s no better feeling than walking off the mats after giving it everything you had. Covered in sweat, tired, smiling, and knowing you challenged yourself. You leave feeling stronger, healthier, and happier than when you walked in—and that’s one of the many reasons we love Jiu-Jitsu.

Who else leaves class feeling amazing after a good, sweaty training session? đŸ™ŒâŹ‡ïž
