🎉 Welcome to UPHS, Mr. T’Narrio Elliott! 🧡🖤

We are excited to welcome one of our own back home to Union Parish High School!

Mr. Elliott is a proud 2016 graduate of Union Parish High School and earned his bachelor’s degree from Grambling State University. He is currently completing his master’s degree in Secondary Education with a concentration in Mild/Moderate Special Education and is expected to graduate in December 2026.

As he begins his fifth year in education, Mr. Elliott brings experience from classrooms in both Louisiana and Arkansas. Now, his journey has brought him back to the place where it all began.

Mr. Elliott shared that he is honored to return to Union Parish and looks forward to supporting his students academically, socially, and personally.

There is something special about seeing our graduates come home to pour back into the next generation of Farmers.

Welcome to UPHS, Mrs. Christina Franks! 🧡🖤

Mrs. Franks is a graduate of West Monroe High School and the University of Louisiana at Monroe. She and her husband, Seth, have been married for 14 years and have two daughters, Lexi and Emma.

Five years ago, Christina and her family made their home in the Bernice area and quickly fell in love with the Union Parish community. When she is not at school, she enjoys spending time outdoors with her family, especially taking walks, kayaking, and camping.

We are excited to welcome Mrs. Christina Franks to the UPHS family and are so glad she has chosen to be part of our school and our community!

🏈 UPHS JUNIOR HIGH FOOTBALL UPDATE 🏈

Due to the extreme heat currently impacting North Louisiana, UPHS administrators have made the decision to cancel today’s junior high football game against Ruston Junior High.

We know our players were looking forward to taking the field, but the health and safety of our junior high student-athletes must always come first. We appreciate the understanding of our families, athletes, and supporters.

📣 Junior High Football Players:
The team will still practice after school today in the Little Gym.

🚗 STUDENT PARKING REMINDER 🧡🖤
As we get ready for the school year, please make sure you know where to park each morning.

Seniors: Your parking area is located on the side of the school by the cafeteria. Please do not park in marked spots.

All students who drive to school are still required to enter through the metal detectors.

All other student drivers: Please park in the front parking lot on the back row by the ditch.

Please help us keep arrival safe, organized, and running smoothly by parking in the correct area each day.

It has been a BUSY week at UPHS, and every bit of it has been about getting ready for what matters most: our students. 🖤🧡

From district meetings and the reveal of our wrapped bus, to professional development, doughnuts courtesy of CommuniHealth Services, backpacks full of supplies donated by Farmerville Church of Christ, senior meetings, Open House, a pizza luncheon provided by a very special anonymous donor, a baby shower, and ending the week with a waffle bar…we have packed a lot into these last few days!

Through all the meetings, planning, preparing, laughing, learning, and celebrating, we have kept our eyes on one thing: our purpose.

And our purpose is clear.

We are here to educate, support, challenge, and prepare the students of Union Parish High School to become everything they are capable of becoming.

We are also incredibly thankful for the churches, organizations, businesses, and individuals in our community who continue to pour into our school. Your support reminds us that educating our students truly is a community effort.

The rooms are ready.
The plans are in place.
Our people are ready.
And now it is time to welcome our Farmers back home.

Here’s to the 2026-2027 school year and a year of showing up, growing, leading, learning, and walking WITH PURPOSE.

Ha sido una SEMANA MUY OCUPADA en UPHS, y todo ha sido para prepararnos para lo que más importa: nuestros estudiantes. 🖤🧡

Desde reuniones del distrito y la presentación de nuestro autobús rotulado, hasta desarrollo profesional, donas cortesía de CommuniHealth Services, mochilas llenas de útiles donadas por Farmerville Church of Christ, reuniones con los estudiantes de último año, Open House, un almuerzo de pizza proporcionado por un donante anónimo muy especial, un baby shower y terminar la semana con una barra de waffles… ¡hemos vivido muchísimo en estos últimos días!

A través de todas las reuniones, la planificación, la preparación, las risas, el aprendizaje y las celebraciones, hemos mantenido nuestra mirada en una sola cosa: nuestro propósito.

Y nuestro propósito está claro.

🎓 ONCE A FARMER, ALWAYS A FARMER 🧡🖤

Today, we are proud to recognize Union Parish High School Class of 2020 graduate Taylen Gatson and the incredible work he continues to do more than 2,000 miles from home.

Taylen graduated from UPHS during the historic COVID-19 pandemic and went on to attend Grambling State University, earning his bachelor’s degree in 2024. He is currently continuing his education and pursuing his master’s degree, with an expected graduation date of May 2027.

Today, Taylen lives in Seattle, Washington, with his girlfriend and their one-year-old son. He serves as a Job Coach at Talley High School in the Renton School District, working directly with students to build career readiness, employability skills, independence, confidence, and preparation for life after high school.

His commitment to young people also extends to athletics. Taylen serves as an Assistant Football Coach at Lindbergh High School, coaching defensive backs and wide receivers while teaching the same lessons that extend far beyond the football field: discipline, accountability, teamwork, leadership, and excellence.

Taylen is also a proud member of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc.

His story is one we want our current students to see.

A former Union Parish student-athlete is now an educator, mentor, coach, father, and graduate student building a life of purpose across the country. The lessons, relationships, and foundation formed right here in Union Parish continue to travel with him into every classroom, workplace, and football field he enters.

Taylen’s mission is to mentor, motivate, empower, and inspire the next generation while continuing to grow as a leader himself.

Taylen, we are proud of the man and leader you have become, and we are even more proud that wherever life takes you, a piece of Union Parish goes with you.

Strong attendance is one of the biggest keys to student success. Being present, being on time, and staying for the full school day matters.

Parents and guardians, please take a moment to review our UPHS Attendance Reminders so everyone is clear on what counts as an excused absence and what happens as absences begin to add up.

📌 Please remember:
• Send documentation when your child is absent.
• Contact the front office if you have questions about an absence.
• Repeated absences can result in conferences, truancy referrals, attendance contracts, Seat Time requirements, and possible loss of course credit.
