🎧 How helpful is a real DJ education?

Helpful enough to keep one small mistake from becoming a VERY big problem. 😬

In this clip, a DJ assistant catches something just in time and helps prevent a potential wedding disaster. And honestly, that’s a pretty good example of what a solid DJ education should do for you.

You can learn a lot about DJing online. But knowing which button to push is not the same thing as knowing what to do when something goes wrong.

At Keep Spinning DJ Academy, we teach the skills behind the skills. How to prepare. How to troubleshoot. How to read a room. How to recover when something unexpected happens. And how to handle the real-world situations that come with actually being a working DJ.

Because eventually, you won’t have an assistant standing next to you.

Your education has to be that assistant. 🎚️🎶

If you’re in Dallas-Fort Worth and you’ve been thinking about learning to DJ, or you’re already DJing and ready to take your skills further, we’re enrolling new students now.

🚨 SNEAKERHEADS: This video may be difficult to watch. 😂👟

When it comes to inclusion, we stand on business. And occasionally, we stand on Jay Clipp’s grails. 😭

For nearly 20 years, I’ve watched this man love, collect, protect, and obsess over sneakers.

And now I get the tremendous privilege of watching our Spin the Spectrum students treat his rare, limited-edition, resale-only sneakers like basic classroom equipment.

Because around here, the student comes first.

The sneaker collection will simply have to regulate itself. 😂

**Using sync is tacky. Learn to beat match by ear at Keep Spinning DJ Academy.**

Pressing sync doesn’t make you a DJ. It makes you a human play button. 📌

Beat matching by ear is the actual skill, the one that lets you read a room, feel the phrase, and blend like you mean it. No crutches. No shortcuts.

At Keep Spinning DJ Academy, that’s exactly what we teach. Real turntable and CDJ fundamentals for DFW DJs who want to book gigs, not just push buttons.

Save this if you’re done relying on sync 👇
Send it to the friend who swears sync is “cheating the right way” 😂
Drop a 🎧 if you’re ready to learn to beat match by ear.

😂 This cartoon had us laughing...

Some requests are so unexpected they make you stop and wonder, “Did that really just happen?” 🤣

So now we have to ask...

🎧 DJs, what’s the weirdest request you’ve ever gotten while DJing?

We’re talking about the requests that completely caught you off guard. The ones you’ll probably never forget. 😂👇

If you’ve never DJ’d before, scroll through the comments. You’ll quickly learn that reading a crowd is only half the job.

And if you’ve always wanted to learn how to DJ, we’d love to help.

👀 DJ Challenge: What’s Wrong Here?

There’s one thing in this video that every DJ should catch almost immediately.

Can you spot it? 🎧👇

Drop your answer in the comments before you read anyone else’s. No cheating. 😅

Whether you’ve been DJing for years or you’ve never touched a controller, this is a fun one.

If you’ve always wanted to learn how to DJ, this is exactly the kind of detail we teach at Keep Spinning DJ Academy. It’s not just about pressing buttons. It’s about understanding what you’re doing behind the decks.

What a night. 🖤

Thank you to everyone who packed out Shy Boy Hi-Fi for another Subsonic. Seeing familiar faces, meeting new ones, and sharing a room full of people who genuinely love music is what it’s all about.

🎧 Jay*Clipp and Frances Jaye brought an evening of indie soul, R&B edits, deep cuts, and timeless grooves that kept the energy exactly where it needed to be all night long.

If you were there, drop your favorite song or moment from the night below. We’d love to hear what stuck with you. 👇

Today’s edition of DJ Horror Stories… 😱🎚️

I Know You Only Learned Sync Last Summer.

Imagine this…

You stop by a friend’s gig.

They ask if you want to jump on for a few songs.

No pressure.

Except…

They’re using a Hercules controller with Serato.

You only know Rekordbox.

You’ve never really learned to mix without the sync button.

And suddenly, you can’t DJ at all. 😬

Today’s DJ Horror Story is a reminder that learning one workflow isn’t the same as learning how to DJ.

Different controllers.
Different software.
Different setups.

A solid foundation lets you adapt.

Hit play to hear how this story unfolded…

Then tell us in the comments:

What’s the biggest DJ horror story you’ve witnessed? 👇
