It's a Sensory World! Our vision is that children with special needs are
purposefully included in the community. Founded in October 2007, It’s a Sensory World! It's a Sensory World!

was created by a parent in search of the perfect program for her own child and a highly dedicated teacher. Both women had a deep desire to make a difference in the lives of children with special needs and their families. For children with developmental disorders like Autism, ADHD, Down syndrome, Cerebral Palsy, Sensory Processing disorders and other special needs, multiple therapies are rendered o

ne-on-one by a trained professional to overcome specific challenges. However, once kids are discharged from therapy, or for families who are unable to continue therapy due to the expense, it is important they continue maintaining and building upon their skills in a real-life context. Children may also find it difficult to participate in mainstream recreational activities as their language and social skills may not be age-appropriate. is a natural progression from therapy into the world of real-world activities. Our center was created to bridge the gap between therapy and mainstream educational and recreational activities.

IT’S OFFICIAL: EARLY GIVING IS OPEN!

Our journey through A World of Possibility has officially begun!

This North Texas Giving Day, we have set our biggest goal yet: $90,000 for It’s a Sensory World!

It’s a big number, but it reflects a big year of growth. We’ve welcomed a record 72 Academy students, opened three new classrooms, and are serving more neurodiverse children, teens, and young adults than ever before.

Now, we’re asking our community to come along for the journey.

Between now and September 17, we’ll be taking you through our World of Possibility and showing you the friendships, communication, confidence, independence, discovery, and belonging your support helps make possible every single day at ISW.

And you don’t have to wait until Giving Day to make an impact.

Happy Birthday to the one and only Mr. Kevin!

Mr. Kevin joined us this summer and loved Sensory World so much that he just never left... and we are VERY glad he didn’t!

To say Kevin wears a lot of hats around here would be an understatement. On any given day, you might find him helping at the front desk, teaching in our Alpha 1 classroom two days a week, pulling kiddos for sensory breaks, jumping in wherever an extra set of hands is needed, moving just about every heavy object in the building, or occasionally being handed a box of furniture that needs to be assembled with the confidence that he’ll figure it out.

And somehow, that still doesn’t cover half of what he does!

Kevin has quickly become one of those people who is always willing to jump in, help out, and do whatever needs to be done for our students and our team. We are so thankful summer camp brought him our way and even more thankful we convinced him to stick around!

Early Giving is almost here! In just TWO DAYS, our North Texas Giving Day adventure officially begins!

This year, we’re inviting our community to step into A World of Possibility and help create more opportunities for neurodiverse children and young adults to explore, connect, grow, and thrive.

Every journey at It’s a Sensory World! looks different. Possibility might mean finding a new way to communicate, making a friend, trying something new, building independence, or discovering the confidence to take that next brave step. And every one of those moments is worth celebrating.

What an incredible way to kick off a new Academy year!

We had such a wonderful time at Meet the Teacher Night last night! It was so great to see our hallways filled with students and families, reconnect with familiar faces, welcome new ones, and share in the excitement of everything ahead.

Our teachers and staff have been hard at work getting every classroom set, organized, and ready for our students, and now there’s only one thing missing… THEM!

We are SO excited to officially welcome our Academy students back tomorrow and begin another year of learning, growing, exploring, and creating a World of Possibility together.

Back to school is THIS Wednesday, and we have lots of ducks to get in a row before our students arrive!

We could use some extra hands Monday, August 17 and Tuesday, August 18 to help us tackle:

Building furniture, cleaning, pressing T-shirts, laminating, organizing classrooms and supplies, and plenty of other last-minute projects!

WISHLIST CHALLENGE DRAWING UPDATE!

You all have officially given us the BEST problem to have!

We have had SO many items purchased from our Back-to-School Wishlist that sorting through everything, matching purchases, and getting every name entered into our drawing has practically become a full-time job!

Because we want to make absolutely sure we don’t miss a single person or entry, we’re pushing our Wishlist Challenge drawing to Monday, August 17!

We are incredibly grateful for the overwhelming participation and generosity. Every item purchased is helping us prepare our classrooms, teachers, and programs for an amazing year ahead, and seeing our community show up for ISW in such a huge way has meant more than we can say.

Today we're celebrating one of our amazing elementary teachers, Cammy Thornton!

Cammy has a special way of making everyone feel welcome. Her kind heart, warm personality, and genuine care for our students and families shine through in everything she does. She builds meaningful relationships, loves our kiddos wholeheartedly, and is always willing to jump in wherever she's needed.

Whether the day goes exactly as planned or takes an unexpected turn, Cammy rolls with the punches with grace, flexibility, and a positive attitude. Her thoughtfulness, compassion, and dedication make a lasting impact on our students, their families, and our entire ISW team.

Every child deserves the opportunity to discover what's possible.

At It's a Sensory World!, no two journeys are ever the same.

For one child, possibility may mean speaking their first words. For another, it may be making a friend, learning to regulate big emotions, building independence, or finding the confidence to try something new.

Every milestone is unique. Every journey is worth celebrating.

This North Texas Giving Day, we're inviting our community to help create A World of Possibility where neurodiverse children, teens, and young adults can explore, grow, connect, belong, and thrive.

Together, we're opening doors, creating opportunities, and helping every individual discover just how far their journey can take them.

WOW. We are absolutely blown away.

As of today, 227 items have been purchased during our Back to School Wishlist Challenge!

Every fidget, snack, cleaning supply, classroom material, sensory tool, and teacher treat is helping us prepare to welcome our students back on August 19, and we truly cannot thank this sweet ISW community enough.

Because of the incredible response from our community, we have continued adding items to the wishlist that will be put to good use throughout the school year. If you've been wanting to help and want to enter for a chance to win one of our four prizes, there are still plenty of opportunities to participate!
