Yesterday we received our next project in queue, a 1929 Cessna AW belonging to Ala Doble Flying Collection. A cursory look at the records indicate this serial number, 178, was delivered new in May of 1929 fitted with a 110 Warner engine. In 1938 it was fit with an Axelson 115 engine. It appears to have undergone a recover in the 1950's at which time it was again fitted with a Warner. An excerpt from U.S. Civil Aircraft Vol. 1 ATC 1- ATC 100 by Joseph P. Juptner, “The type certificate number 72 (9/1928) for the “Cessna AW” was issued September of 1928 and the model was built through 1929, according to factory records 50 airplanes of this type were built.” This aircraft is one of six Cessna AW’s remaining on the FAA registry. We are grateful to have the opportunity to be part of the history of this aircraft. More updates on this project when things begin to progress.
