Congratulations to Faribault Middle School student, Emely Cheley!

We are excited to introduce the 2027 Rice County Fair Ambassador Candidates!

Emely Cheley is the 11 year old daughter of Luis and Vida Cheley of Faribault. This fall Emely will be a 6th grader at Faribault Middle School. Emely’s favorite subjects in school are science and music. Outside of school, Emely is involved with American Heritage Girls Troop 3100, she enjoys camping, participating in band where she plays the clarinet, playing soccer, enjoys participating in archery, and is an alter server at Divine Mercy Catholic Church. Emely's favorite fair memories are going to the rodeo in the Grandstand and being tall enough to ride the big rides on the Midway. At the fair Emely enjoys seeing the animals, especially the horses and cows and attending Grandstand Events like the Rodeo and Truck & Tractor Pulls. Emely would like to a 2027 Rice County Fair Junior Ambassador because she likes to be a part of the fair and would like to build new friendships along with memories for a lifetime as a Junior Ambassador. Emely is sponsored by Willinger's Golf Course.

Last week, we celebrated an important milestone as our 8th graders graduated from Faribault Middle School and prepared to begin their next chapter at Faribault High School.

The ceremony was a special opportunity to recognize the hard work, growth, and accomplishments of these students throughout their middle school years. We are proud of all they have achieved and excited to see what the future holds for each of them. Congratulations, Class of 2030!

Our 6th graders had a great time at River Rendezvous at Alexander Park! Students stepped back in time and explored history through hands-on learning stations including tinsmithing, candlemaking, historic clothing, blacksmithing, tomahawks, and more. It was a fun and engaging day full of learning, history, and new experiences!

Our 6th grade Falcon Foundations students recently took a field trip to Morristown, where 41 sixth graders helped plant 1,039 native plants in a wetland area. Their efforts will help restore the area from former farming ground back to its original state to help combat flooding, stabilize the soil, create habitat for native species to return, and support efforts to address climate change. It was a great hands-on learning experience and an amazing way for students to make a positive impact on the environment and our community! 🌱
