The BioScience Program at Shattuck-St. Mary's School The BioScience Program is a hybrid curricular/extra-curricular program for high school students interested in medicine, biomedical engineering and/or research.

The Shattuck-St. Mary's BioScience Program offers students a "head start" in their preparation for a career in medicine or biotechnology. Upon graduation from the program, BioScience students will take away both practical skills and classroom knowledge as well as first-hand experience in many areas of medicine and the life sciences. They will be familiar with all stages of the research and develop

ment process of medical technology; they will be aware of all the career opportunities available to science-oriented students, and they will have a focused plan for their post-secondary education. Maren LaLiberty, M.D. is the founding director of the BioScience Program at Shattuck-St. Mary's School. Dr. LaLiberty holds an M.D. and a B.A. in microbiology from the University of Minnesota. After practicing family medicine for several years, she decided to dedicate her life to teaching and coaching. SSM offers the chance to pair the solid foundation of challenging, motivating academics with focused opportunities in athletics and the arts. Located just 45 minutes south of the Twin Cities of Minneapolis/St. Paul, our 250-acre historic campus serves approximately 440 students from 37 states and 20 countries. Our Centers of Excellence include a nationally known Hockey, Soccer,and Figure Skating Program, a BioScience Program, an Honors Program, Theatre Arts, Dance, Vocal, and Instrumental Music Programs, Pre-Conservatory Strings Program and a Center for Academic Achievement.
